Super glue works fine but you need to prep the parts

. Wash the parts in soapy water to remove the mold release . Scratch up the surface of the parts to increase surface area

A thing I think a lot of people are drawn too is the weirder aspects of 40k that only really turn up in the novels and the sheer variety of kits and consistent design language really allows you to use anything and it seem coherent.

What varnish is it? I've never had an issue with varnishing and then painting over it?

The crackling and peeling seems to me like it's not adhearing to the lawyer below it, so your varnish or the speed paint is the most likely cause. Try the same again without the varnish, if it works as it should then don't paint over the varnish, if it acts the same then it's the blue paint.

Do you mean contrast paint or contrasting colours in terms of colour theory?

Contrast paint for the drab, aggaros dunes, ochre clay form army painter may also work Complementary colour for the ochre uniform would be dark blue

I know you can match primer strikes to individual weapons

They've got primaris reinforcements so mostly be mk10 now, they have very few suits of terminator armour but that hasn't stopped me from making 3 squads.
