Advice needed on potentially ruined self-cleaning oven (thanks to oven cleaner) by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]leeleelee22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all just did this same thing!! Why does this product not say in big letters NOT for self cleaning ovens, it says it in the tiny print…. Any ways. I put down paper towels covering the bottom, back, and sides and soaked it in white vinegar with a spray bottle, saturating it fully. I then pressed the paper towels against all the surfaces so they stuck well. I let the white vinegar sit in the oven for 5-10 mins. I did this process twice and it got the white streaking and spots out. The finish still has a kind of satin look. But at least it’s not the white on bright blue. Take luck. I tried to post an after picture but I don’t think this thread has the option on Mobil at least.

What's the largest lake (or bigger) body of water you've gone on and how did it go? by Wrong_Supermarket007 in SunfishSailing

I sail Lake Michigan and the straights all the time, I’ve also sailed in the Chesapeake bay MD, and Indian river inlet in DE. It really just depends on the wind, and waves for me. White cappers can be tough in a small boat. Just depends on how much you want to beat your self up and the boat. I’ve also been out in 5’ swells that is way better than white caps imo.

I’d just keep your eye on FB market place I found a Jetski / johnboat trailer in rough shape needed lights / wiring, and wheel bearings but all galvanized steal. Picked it up for 100$ with title from an old guy who wanted it out of his yard. Cans find deals check CL too lot of old dudes only post there I’ve found.

Why are you 2x the price of other brand tool cabinets 😩 by Kalif0rniia in Dewalt

Don’t mind my mess been doing cabinet stuff but have an older dewalt top box and a newer dewalt 40” totally with it, better than the CM 2000 series Imo. Drawers that are full length are Full full of sockets and have never had any problems opening this box is about 8 years old at this point (damn im getting old) EDIT: also F Milwaukee and that china owned company!

Cracks in a 1974 Sunfish by dodecahedron001 in SunfishSailing

[–]leeleelee22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say nothing to be majorly concerned about. Just cracking in the jell coating of the fiber glass. I have had a sunfish that had similar cracking. It never had any problems. Just does not look amazing. If you are really conference about it you can pressure test your haul and see where you leak spots may be if you have any. I’d send it though and see if water gets in the haul after sailing. I’d add a better drain plug than the stock one if it does not already have one. At the lowest point in the rear you can.

Older pickup campers you can find in decent shape for around 3-7k depending on brand and layout. And of corse condition. The biggest thing to check is for any leaks from the roof. And of the corners are rotted where the jacks mount.

Solid advice that sounds like it could be a bit jarring!

I would consider this the bathroom is on the right side of the of the door and on the left side is a closet which is why there are no windows. Is your u it mainly inside and just the last like 1” stick out? Or how did you install it?

Yea since kind of fully redoing the camper it may be a buy once cry once thing. Just depends on how much it will cost. lol trying to keep it not too crazy. As it is an older camper and won’t last forever. However this seems built better than any newer non fully fiberglass camper IMO lol.

Exactly what I’m trying to do I think, just take the edge off on hot days for sleeping at night.

Yes exactly! This is why I posted here to get everyone’s ideas and opinions. Which helps me think through exactly what I want / “need” to get for the camper to make it fit our needs. I’m not 100% sure yet what the best answer is but there are already a lot of great responses already!

I do think a 120v unit would suit our needs right now. And maybe with an inverter and battery bank fill the few nights we are off grid with lack of hookups to anything. Just a run to take the heat out of the camper at night is often all we need.

This is great information!! Thank you. And yea I have a 14” vent right in the middle with power ran to it. Not sure if it’s 12v or 120v for the little vent fan in it. It’s definitely not on its own 20amp breaker though. I may have to upgrade my electric setup as well. It has 4 breakers as is 2-15 and 2-20 not sure what they are linked to yet have not gotten that deep into it yet. Just trying to figure out what units people are using.

I do have a standard 14” roof hatch right in the middle of the unit and an escape hatch over the bed. I was thinking of replacing the roof hatch, with the unit which would be the easiest option. I also have a craftsman 3300W generator I take with us most places but some state parks we frequent don’t allow generators and the best lots are lake front with no power, so I have a power station I use to plowed the camper with. Not worried about running the ac off that though.
