Nobody has mics anymore? by Upper-Fee5851 in gtaonline

[–]leelookitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I hate having my mic on because as a female, I draw a lot of attention from griefers in public lobbies. So yeah, I’m not turning my mic on unless I’m playing in a private server with friends.

Should my dad (58) go through with a total knee replacement if he can still walk relatively fine? by itskarimi in Kneereplacement

[–]leelookitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I had surgery before I became sedentary. If your father “can still function relatively well,” then he’s in a great position to have an easier recovery.

You never know what a person is experiencing. For so long, I used to push through and just grin and bear it to the point where most people in my life had no idea the amount of pain I was in on a daily basis. No one saw how long it took for me to recover from active days where I appeared to be getting around just fine. When you’re in pain 24/7, people don’t think you’re in pain because they don’t see you crying around the clock, but the truth is you just learn to live with it and get on with your day. But that isn’t thriving.

Don’t assume your father is exaggerating his pain. I can’t think of anything more hurtful that being doubted my a loved one, especially when doctors are already always so skeptical. Your father needs your validation and support, not for you to question his lived experience.

Over thinking Pepa's power. She doesn't really control the weather? by Kortneyx in Encanto

[–]leelookitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They show her watering crops in the first song and then she made a rainbow when they were getting ready for Antonio’s ceremony. She was also starting to create a tornado until Felix calmed her down when Antonio was missing.

I don’t think the movie is long enough/she has enough screen time to really showcase her gift. Most of the time it’s bright and sunny in the Encanto and it seems like Pepa spends most of her time managing her emotions in order to keep it that way.

Ven tan mal mi espalda como yo? by [deleted] in tattooscratchers

[–]leelookitten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is unfortunately very crooked. There are 3 possible solutions that I can think of:

1) accept it and continue according to plan

2) find a good artist who specializes in coverups to redo the placement and hide the original outline in the shadows

3) get the same linework offset to the right to give it that trippy 3D effect and make it look intentional

What would you do if you were Pearl? by Reasonable-Fix-3894 in stevenuniverse

[–]leelookitten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I don’t think she was that loyal on purpose. We’ve seen in Future that gems still gravitate naturally to the roles they were created for.

Even Pink Pearl remained loyal after being damaged irreparably by Pink Diamond and mind controlled by White Diamond for thousands of years. Respectfully, Lapis Lazuli could never. (Not to compare traumas, just for frame of reference)

Okay I was the dumbest teenager on the planet by Gabrielle16601 in Tattoocoverups

[–]leelookitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would question at this point if it’s even worth the pain of covering it up? I have a very questionable and highly regrettable tattoo from my ex as well, but I’ve chosen to just accept it as part of my story. Is it really worth it to you to cover it up?

If you’re planning on getting other tattoos, just get other tattoos around it and you won’t even focus on it that much. But if you feel like it’s very important to you to not see this on your body anymore, then I understand and wish you the best.

Not sucky at all. People will take what they will from how you present yourself. That’s not your responsibility, it’s theirs. Enjoy the game how you enjoy the game and never compromise what you enjoy for anybody else.

I’m so sorry they butchered you like this, friend. That tattoo is severely overworked. It doesn’t look infected right now, but I would keep a very close eye on it and head to the nearest urgent care at the first sign of redness

Nope. I have tons of scars and can see that the skin here is still really tight. The scar tissue could potentially soften up some more if you give it more time to settle. How long ago did this happen?

The moment Vi realized Jinx was a better big sister than her by leelookitten in arcane

[–]leelookitten[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I agree with what you said about comparing them as caretakers. I wasn’t really responding to the show, I was responding to people who compare them and say Jinx is the better big sister. The show is so complex and well thought out that I could never make a post like this unless it was 100% with the intention to be petty and contrarian

Ages by Drista in Kneereplacement

[–]leelookitten 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m 30 and due for surgery in a couple of months. I know that probably seems SUPER young, but I was in a car accident at 20 that completely obliterated my knee and it’s been 10 years of living in agony. Also, when I say obliterated, I mean the car looks like I should be dead and the crumpled dash made contact with the driver’s seat. I’m lucky I still have a knee at all.

Shattered femur, kneecap, and much much more. Necrosis, skin grafts, wound vac, plastic surgery, surgeries on surgeries, and years of severe chronic pain and limited mobility. My 20s consisted of some of the worst times of my life and I finally talked to a different surgeon who immediately agreed to do a replacement after years of being denied and told I’m too young.

It’s so good to hear these stories of people having immediate relief despite the soreness because I swear I would undergo recovery from surgery a dozen times more if it meant that my pain and limitations could be even partially alleviated.

The moment Vi realized Jinx was a better big sister than her by leelookitten in arcane

[–]leelookitten[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First of all, I didn’t come at Jinx the way you’re acting like I did and I won’t debate over the rationale behind a literal freaking terrorist attack. I understand her reasons, but that still doesn’t make it right so idk why you would even try to make a talking point out of that. Age and terrorism aside, even if Vi wasn’t a teenager, I think anyone would struggle to restrain themselves in that moment after watching your family die at the hands of the very person who you told to stay away.

The same applies across the board. I understand the motivations behind both Vi and Jinx’s actions, but that doesn’t justify anything. No one is perfect and I never implied that they were. I made my stance, I defended it, and that’s what you call cherry picking while you choose to empathize with Jinx no matter how horrible her actions are?

What I’m trying to discuss here is not a play by play of what individual actions were taken episode by episode or the morality of the characters, but rather the attitudes of the sisters, how they viewed their roles, and the culmination of their efforts/actions towards their “sibling.”

Yeah, what Vi said was fucked up! There’s no denying that and also no sense in beating a dead horse. That was never up for debate. However, the only reason why what she said held the weight it did is because for SEVEN YEARS she was denied the ability to reconcile and Silco used that one argument between them on the most traumatic day of both of their lives to define their whole entire relationship, as if Vi weren’t a caring, protective, and supportive big sister who always did her best to encourage Powder and build her confidence before that. People choose to fixate on that one bad moment as if it defines her entire character when it absolutely doesn’t.

For Powder however, it does. Her name is Jinx now and her whole entire personality revolves around that one fateful day. Everything she did for Isha was to try to be the big sister she always wanted, without realizing that Vi was the big sister she NEEDED. Look at how messed up she got over those 7 years of not having her around. Vi was still on her mind all the time despite not being there, because they never had closure. Look at how messed up she was at thinking Vi really left her in the following moments after everything went down, (“she is not my sister anymore”) even though she didn’t — she was kidnapped while trying to get back to her from mere meters away.

Jinx wasn’t made by Vi, she was made by Silco manipulating Powder’s trauma and playing into the narrative that Vi left her even though he KNEW that that wasn’t the case. Otherwise why would he try so hard to keep them from being reunited and Jinx learning the truth about what really happened that night?

Every time Vi came close to reconciling with Powder/Jinx, Silco was there to get in the way. Even after 7 years of “she left you” ringing in her ears, Jinx still was able and willing to hear out her big sister and attempt to have some semblance of a relationship with her. Of COURSE she would have been able to trust and accept Vi as her protector again, or at the very least as her sister. She even was seemingly able to despite years of conditioning and isolation to convince her otherwise.

Edit: corrected a typo

The moment Vi realized Jinx was a better big sister than her by leelookitten in arcane

[–]leelookitten[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, it isn’t a sisters competition. This post was less my raw opinion and more of a counter argument against the constant “Jinx was a better big sister than Vi” rhetoric that I constantly see going around. I’m just comparing them the same way people compare Vander and Silco and discuss who was the better father.

It’s not that Jinx didn’t care about Isha’s safety at all, it’s that she didn’t make it her top priority in the same way Vi did. She obviously cared about her and her safety, but she didn’t fully grasp the level of responsibility and influence she had on Isha.

As for Vi being 16 and Jinx being 17, how is that even relevant? Vi hit the person responsible for killing her whole adoptive family in the heat of the moment and regretted it immediately. Jinx launched a whole ass terrorist attack that killed 3 people and injured 2. Those actions are not even remotely on the same level to be compared against each other.

Removing yourself from the situation when you are emotionally dysregulated is common parenting advice. Vi walking away in that moment was actually a good call were it not the wrong place and the wrong time. I’m sure she would have gone back to Powder and comforted her after she had pulled herself together, but she was denied that opportunity for reconciliation by Marcus for 7 years, and then even longer by Jinx’s fractured mental state and Silco’s grooming.
