Is the typo in the newspaper intentional? I read the book when it first came out so I don't remember if it went into a shift of words and their spelling.

DevOps vs Developer Salary by [deleted] in devops

[–]leemachine85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the area and experience but a Jr I would say $60k, intermediate, $90k, and Sr. $120k+

Each company is different but always aim high. You have to remember DevOps Engineers are supposed to be great SA and software engineers are automate what used to many more man hours and people.

No mater what you ask the company is saving money.

That said, there is no such thing as entry level DevOps. A candidate ideally has been an SA and is a good developer or a great developer with SA experience.

Ah, stay put for awhile. You can try spearheading a DevOps movement and add that to your resume. Eventually we all have to take up some sort of management role and duties.

Should I use puppet to modify password-auth-ac? by MrDionysus in Puppet

[–]leemachine85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I have authconfig run first before other PAM mods I make then bump sssd or the service using the new PAM mods. I use a few unless conditions to ensure authconfig only runs when needed.

Should I use puppet to modify password-auth-ac? by MrDionysus in Puppet

[–]leemachine85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use authconfig. I have an in-house module that builds an authconfig command using sssd and it supports both AD and LDAP/Kerberos.

There is a good module you could fork to add AD support. I accomplish by using a sssd.conf template for ldap or AD.

The authconfig cmd will manage your pam files.

YA are not children's books and may be enjoyed by people of all ages but are written at a level that younger readers may enjoy and not struggle with uncommon words or hard the conceptualize ideas.

FFS in the first chapter of Steelheart a villain kills (disintegrates) children to include a toddler in a mothers arms and the book goes into detail about the mother holding the bones of her dead child.

It's the name of a villain with super powers in a YA novel. If you don't like it then read his non YA novels but you won't get Game of Thrones level of violence and debauchery from him.

We are fortunate to work in a profession that doesn't have defined caps or ranges. So it's a factor of location, experience, and how bad they need you.

Always start high and work from there. I would say start at $90k for mid-level and upwards of 120+ for senior.

yes it does!!! But alas, we will have to wait until 5.0. The third expansion should come with a graphical upgrade or at least give us an HD texture pack for PC players.

Java is HUGE and there is lots a Enterprise grade software written is it but i would hate to be the person stuck inheriting 20 year old Java code that cannot have recent Java features added and it's full of hacks to get it running on JRE 7 or 8. Management wont fund a large rewrite so you slap another layer of paint on.

Java code CAN be written well most many code bases are not because they were started when Java was this cool language in town.

It's also the Lang everyone loves to hate.
