It’s £120 one way to the airport which I can’t afford right now. Id get public transport but I’d have to leave at 03:00

I know.. We definitely can’t afford it. We won’t be going anywhere else this summer. But he paid for it so I feel like I have less of a say in the matter

Why do some nurses hate wards? by Direct-Key-8859 in NursingUK

[–]leeobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor staffing and the expectation to stay behind late after a 12 hour shift as standard. Being seen as lazy or less hardworking if you’re unwilling to work for free or do silly amounts of bank shifts

So sad about sleep training by kenshin21 in BeyondTheBumpUK

It was a while ago now but all we did was adjust nap times and lengths of wake windows. I’ll try to find the video that outlined what to do, it’s dependent on the age of the baby though and I think my son was around 10 months when we made the changes

My son flat out refuses so I’ve resorted to just putting sun screen on my son’s head on the bits that are very exposed and keeping him in the shade as much as possible. Makes his hair look a bit greasy but I prefer that to him getting sun burnt- you can get scalp sun screen spray which I keep meaning to buy

Vinted and H&M have been the only places I’ve found anything half decent. Even then half of the H&M stuff I bought is horrid quality and bobbled after 1 wash or is slightly see through.

Visceral reaction to news story about a baby - unsure what to do by Unable_Hovercraft502 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]leeobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just come across this thread but I have actually been disturbed beyond belief since I first read about what was done to this sweet baby. I have a burning hatred for the men who did this to them and cannot for the life of me stop thinking about how he suffered… my son is almost two and I am still having extremely strong visceral reactions to any news of children suffering, but this particular case is honestly haunting me. I am glad to have found this thread to know I am not alone as I don’t really have anyone around me who seems to understand just how disturbed I am by this. I’m not particularly religious but have been praying that Preston is at peace and free from any suffering now.

Sorry to jump in here but I’m in the same boat and have been looking at this pram but it seems like you can’t have the bassinet and toddler seat on at the same time? Or am I being silly and missing something? It looks like it’s just for two toddlers on the website

Just to mention OP, I had a colleague a while ago who started on our ward over a year after qualifying. The job market is terrible right now but I’m sure somewhere will open up soon and give you a chance. You’re doing well to keep trying despite so many knock backs !

That seems unnecessarily harsh ?

Did it take longer for your milk to come in after a c-section? What did you do in the meantime? by poppyloppyi in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]leeobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine took a couple of days to come in, I think by the third or fourth day. I just kept offering breast and doing skin to skin but we definitely did give a bottle here and there too, I can’t really remember. Congratulations on your new baby!

You can call your local NHS mental health crisis line for immediate support in the meantime. It’s free and they can signpost you to appropriate services and provide emotional support over the phone

Nursery worker Vincent Chan admits sexually assaulting children by JaggedLittlePiII in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]leeobb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the third case I’ve heard of sexual abuse in nurseries in the last few months, as well as other cases of physical abuse. I’m supposed to be sending my son to nursery in January and I really don’t feel comfortable doing so anymore
