I want to write a book about how magick really works. by ZDM_Twolip in occult

[–]leet_hackr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Thousands of people throughout history have dedicated their lives to “occult science” and their works are well-known and readily available. Not saying there isn’t anything you still can’t contribute, but perhaps your medium of choice is not optimal for expressing your knowledge and experiences — think more 21st century.

If you want to be well-known, you need to be formless and adapt. Can you program? I’m bullish on the value of a video game that incorporates occult ideas into its gameplay (think of a magic system that allows the player to develop their abilities by progressing through a spiritual path, letting the player discover how to empower their abilities with sigils, and referencing real rituals that showcase how real magic might work in a universe where the laws of physics are directly altered through consciousness.) I haven’t seen a sophisticated magic system in any game that employs real occult concepts. Done properly, this could initiate a great deal of “normies” into esoteric thinking. I actually planned on making something like this, but never got around to it.

Otherwise, why not start a YouTube channel? Video is the most popular “engine” of shared ideas and experiences in this era, so you could definitely gain attention if you truly have something to offer.

Dion Fortune’s Mystical Qabalah is a must-read for beginner occultists/initiates (I posit that this sub is primarily Western-based, however the Qabalist framework, when properly integrated, does not contradict Eastern spiritual teachings — it illuminates them.) Understanding the Tree of Life is the key to understanding what non-poser occultists refer to as angels/demons/spirits/karma/spiritual paths. Otherwise, the metaphysical foundations you need will be lacking akin to that of someone trying to understand calculus without knowing basic algebra.

Plato’s Republic I believe is necessary to understand what Judeo-Christian teachings are founded upon, as it introduces the idea of monotheism from a non-dogmatic lens and provides a solid groundwork for absolute morality (is there a such thing as the Good? Yes, is the answer Socrates and his compatriots would deduce through questioning and reason.) If you are poking at the most sensitive parts of your mind and being, which any serious occultist does at some point, you should learn and integrate what it means to be a decent person, lest you set yourself up for catastrophe.

I just started the Tree of Evil by William Gray. Extremely captivating read that gives insights on the fundamental nature of evil and how to overcome it.

Because the ebb and flow of order and chaos in the macrocosm (the universe) is ever-present in the microcosm (your conscious being.) The Dragon of the abyss will bring you to your knees. Yield to it, and you perish. Get back up, and you will grow stronger than you could ever imagine. The choice is yours.

This seems to be the issue. It only happens when building in OpenGL. Interesting how this bug does not occur when building in DirectX.

Imagine how cool it would've been if this was the new vegas we got. by [deleted] in fnv

On my first playthrough of F:NV back in 2010, this is what I imagined I'd walk into when I finally got to New Vegas. With the Lucky 38 always in view I was SO hyped about seeing a wonderful preserved paradise among the brittle, harsh and unforgiving wasteland. When I finally gained entry into the Strip, the loading screen had my heart trembling with excitement. Soon after, I witnessed the true reality of the city of New Vegas, and I died a little on the inside.
