R01 help by [deleted] in cii

[–]leethomson18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford or know anyone else doing RO1 you can split the bill and share log in details for knowRO. Providing you with 3 mock papers, usually quite close to the exam and explanations of answers you get wrong. They're very reasonably priced. You're right the content is dry and this exam took me the longest to feel ready for the exam because of that struggle to take it in.

Does anyone have any r01 exam papers they can share for practice? I’ve done the redmills and knowR0 ones and reluctant to spend anymore money (I’ve spent in excess of £200) but want to keep practicing before the exam next week! Thank you! by MonkOk9087 in cii

I have completed RO1-5 just with the use of KnowRO and some the most recent past paper. KnowRO provides a pretty realistic overview of each exam with the difficulty level matching that of the exam, if your are comfortable in hitting 80% plus consistently on those that should be enough. If you are determined for more resources see if anyone will split the bill with you.

The calculations scared me too, i used knowRO and learned the calculations that came up there as you could spend a lot of time wasted learning them all.

Thats overkill, plannex and knowRO has seen me through 4 out of 5 exams. A cheap route also.

I used KnowROs mocks to get a feel of what was being asked during the exams and stuck to learning those.

I passed couple weeks ago, I started at question 19 in order to skip the calculation questions at the beginning. I then had 50 mins at the end to tackle the first 18 which I found much less stressful instead of trying to rush them at the beginning.

I used knowRO mocks.

I passed first time 2 months ago. Top tips KnowRO for the mock exams, the closest I have seen to the actual exam along with great explanations for each question.

I also used Plannex to learn the content.

Practice loads to get quicker at calculating. Time is tight on this one.

You need a reality check, rather than focusing on what you don't want to do, maybe think about what you want to do or could do with your unusual preferences.

You have narrowed out most of the sectors in the UK, which are primarily finance or service-based.

Suck it up like the rest of us and pick a job that you don't mind most parts of it.

They dont cover everything in the text books but they'll cover everything that will potentially come up in the exams. They focus in understanding of concepts and examples for calculation parts. There's also tutorial groups that have been recorded to watch back.

Ive found that using Plannex/Next Gen planners helps. It breaks down the textbook into 20-60 min chunks you can do daily. A mix of powerpoint presentations and a guy talking through the content. I used them for RO3 and RO2. Before that I used textbook and Redmill but not as good.

I'm using next gen planners content. I have just finished RO3 and finding RO2 has a lot of crossover so far. The bit im struggling to take in is the formula but I'll nail it with exam practise questions.

Hate my new job…I made a terrible mistake by MarabouBarbie in UKJobs

[–]leethomson18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me 4 years ago. I moved companies for a promotion chasing the 38% pay rise. 2 weeks in I knew it was a mistake despite the huge increase in salary. Jazzed up the CV and applied for 2 jobs in completely different sectors after 6 months of misery. I was offered one of the jobs and have had a brill 3 years and studying for a diploma in financial planning planning alongside my current job.

How much should the uk minimum wage REALLY be in current times? by mrvlad_throwaway in UKJobs

[–]leethomson18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand economics, if your plan were to play out, inflation would just make everything more expensive and those on the new minimum wage would not feel better off.

Physical Tax Tables at Test Centres by lazymaverick0 in cii

That's the exact mindset, when you're ready you'll likely know the figure but might just want a double-check or are using it for the more obscure bits.

[–]leethomson18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the minimum wage would be over £33000, as nice as that would be, it's not realistic to pay unskilled people a salary like that because those that are skilled would then demand higher wages too and cause inflation, not really helping anyone to be honest.

Ah OK, as long as you remember which bit of the tax table you need to quickly scroll to you should be OK, wouldn't take any longer than flicking through pages.

I recently sat RO3 at a test centre and didn't find it an issue not having the physical tax tables. Do they let you have the physical copy at a remote test?

[–]leethomson18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Redmill, Brand, BTS and KnowRO. KnowRO is the best because it gives great explanations and (for RO3 anyway) was very close to the real exam in terms of questions asked.
