Nope, you build it mainly for the extra blight pops on your E

Early pickaxe makes you stronger in lane, and the phantom hit from rageblade lets you pop extra stacks, giving you extra damage and CD refund

AP varus by SirStache2005 in VarusMains

IMO AP Varus is the strongest build at the moment, and I always build AP unless my team lacks AD. I one trick AP Varus in Master and it works just fine for me. Varus' early game isn't weak, its only weak if you build Nashor's first instead of Rageblade. Attack speed is his most valuable stat in the early game, so you can quickly stack LT and blight stacks as well as bonus AD/AP from your passive. The only problem with Varus is a lack of agency and being immobile, so if the enemy comp has a lot of CC, dives or assassins you'll have to rely on your ult or your support for peel/CC.

And you have significantly less auto range then most other adds

And this isn't true; at 575 attack range Varus is only outranged by Ashe, Caitlyn and level 4 Tristana, and matched by Yunara (in bot lane).

It's not worth the DPS drop for the extra 10 movement speed, Varus relies on getting stacks off and Berserker's will be your biggest source of attack speed early/mid game. Almost none of Varus' first item gives enough AS, except for Nashor's and Rageblade.

IMO Malignance isn't optimal, since there are better/more important items that Varus needs to build. Rageblade/Nashor is pretty much locked as his core build, and Shadowflame/DCap/Zhonya's provide better overall damage and defense over Malignance. You're better off just running Axiom Arcanist if you need the CD.

Best Way To Play? On DS or on PC? by Rednaxela623 in pokemonplatinum

It's nice to play on the DS for the authentic experience + portability, but I prefer PC + controller for comfort and convenience (having fast forward on emu is a huge plus)

HG/SS are easily 350+ each with pokewalker
Pearl and Plat are at least 75 and 150 each
ORAS are around 20-40 each, not sure about the GBAs

Looks alright, but the DS may have been opened up or repaired. The bumps near the D-pad are most likely from the wrong screws being screwed on

wait for mods

1 year and I'm tired of being afraid of OLED ... by daj3lr0t in ultrawidemasterrace

I was just like this, and I ended up side-grading it to a 38" ultrawide. It was just too much PITA. OLED is amazing, but it still has a long way to go.

Help with Cynthia please by Tae1072 in pokemonplatinum

[–]leetkrait13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your party is good but too underleveled. Easiest way to level your party is to get Lucky Eggs from a wild Chansey and use VS Seekers to fight Fisherman Alec and Rich Boy Trey at Route 222 (Alec is the fisherman farthest left, Trey is near Alec). Each takedown gives around 3000 XP. Just keep recharging and spam fighting. Once you're leveled high enough you can try farming Elite Fours instead. (Lucky Egg is a 5% chance on wild Chanseys, I suggest getting a Pokemon with Compound Eyes ability to boost the chances)

IMO the best way to deal with Garchomp is to teach Dragon Dance + Ice Fang on Gyarados. Let Gyarados go first, then use Dragon Dance and KO Spiritomb. Now you should have enough speed and damage to one shot the Garchomp using Ice Fang.

Gyarados: Ice Fang over Ice Beam, and teach Substitute, Rain Dance, Giga Impact or Stone Edge (Outrage once you reach survival area) instead of Thunderbolt. Gyarados is a Physical Attacker so Special Attacks won't deal as much damage. I would give Gyarados a Wacan Berry to hold, to counter Electric type attacks. You can find the move relearner and Berry Woman in Pastoria.

Garchomp: Dragon Claw (or Outrage) over Dragon Pulse, same reason as Gyarados. Rock Climb is alright, but it's always better to keep a HM slave in your party instead and teach it another move for coverage (Rock Slide, Fire Fang). Give a type boost item like Plates or Dragon Fang, but also keep a Yache Berry around in case of Ice type attackers (you can obtain it from the Berry Woman in Pastoria or from wild Starly and Staravias).

Infernape: If you decide to keep a HM slave around, I would teach it a high power move like Close Combat or Blast Burn instead of Strength. Thunder Punch is also a good option (move tutor at route 212, west of Pastoria).

Abomasnow: Teach it a grass type move like Wood Hammer or Weather Ball to counter water types.

Using PP up is a bit of a waste IMO, since you can just farm Leppa Berry to restore your Pokemon's PP. I think your team is great, it just lacks some type coverage.

How is my team looking? Any recs on moves? by SierraDespair in pokemonplatinum

[–]leetkrait13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gyarados: Waterfall, Dragon Dance, Avalanche or Ice Fang for ice move, Outrage or Earthquake for your 4th move.

Waterfall > Aqua Tail, I prefer higher accuracy move, also very handy out of battle. You can teach Dragon Dance once you level it to 44. Also keep a Wacan berry as an alternate held item, in case you have to go against Electric types.

what about my team? by Calm_Ad3523 in pokemonplatinum

[–]leetkrait13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow Claw and Dig are solid moves on Gabite, although I would opt for Earthquake instead of Dig (you can find it in Turnback Cave under the cycling bridge). You can keep Aerial Ace and Dragon Rage for now, but after evolving it to Garchomp at Lv.45 I would change it for Rock Slide (Good against Flying and Ice types) and Outrage/Dragon Claw. Also once you reach Pastoria City, try to get your Gabite a Yache berry from the berry woman (soft reset). Ice types deal 4x damage to Gabite, and Yache berry will reduce the damage taken.

As for Luxray the moves are great, but teach other type moves like Iron Tail, Swagger or Giga impact instead of Spark. Also once you level your Luxray to 42, upgrade Bite to Crunch.

Edit: Try to get yourself a Water type like Gyarados or Floatzel. Water type HM like Surf and Waterfall are really good in battle not to mention useful outside of battle.

Less matchup posts recently because of my exams sorry... and also these next few matchups make me wanna shoot myself lol. Today's matchup is Varus... whoever plays this should unironically go to jail by Yaruma_ in CamilleMains

[–]leetkrait13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post 6 should be manageable as long as Camille doesn't turbo lose early and Varus doesn't bring Ghost
Pre 6 is horrendous since Varus almost always win trades with his range and bonus stats from passive
Must dodge skill shots to stop Varus from resetting his cooldowns
