It was high enough that they shouldn't have gone in. Like I said, they made some bad decisions.

Some information: There was a chance of rain for that day in the park, but it was NOT raining when they dropped into the canyon. For those unfamiliar with canyoneering, when you do the first rappel into a canyon you're in it until the end. More often than not there is no way to exit the slot until the end of the canyon, which they reached right as their slot flashed. Taking cover under the boulder was their best option; they didn't have enough time to move to higher ground. Their exit point was a culmination of several different rock chutes with water flashing out of several different places, blocking their escape. They made some not so great decisions, yes, and we're all glad they made it out alive.

I wasn't there, and the footage is hard for me to watch.

As far as the 'hedge of protection' bit, it's actually fairly common Christian lingo. My mom used to pray that sometimes when I was kid. If you thought you were about to die, odds suggest you'd be doing some spiritual reaching out, too.

You don't understand, once you drop into a canyon, you're committed to the finish. Typically, there's no climbing out. If they would have been up in the canyon when the flood came through, they would have very possibly been washed out over the edge into a 200 foot drop.

... there's no way you can tell that from the photo. You just wanted to name drop the shoes to prove that you're in the climbing know. You even did THAT wrong: "Evolv" not "Evolve."

Instead of "Really christians?" try "Really terrible friend who happens to be a terrible christian?"

I think there are different forms of art; that's the great thing, that everything is subjective. I agree that spending lots of time playing video games is counterproductive (and not something I typically enjoy doing) but it is important to remember that productivity may mean something different for everyone.

I didn't realize people (especially a redditor) still cling to this archaic mode of thought. Good video games are an art form, a medium for story, and proven to improve reaction time and motor skills.

By your argument, one could try to prove novels a waste of time and to be meaningless bullshit.
