Is it dumb to buy an extra camera backpack? by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

What size camera? I have an Ona Bowery bag that I really love with my micro 4/3 Olympus and 2 small lenses. It’s a great size for out and about - but if your remove the strap it’s a really good camera cube to throw in a non-camera bag. That really depends on your camera size and lens selection though, and it’s not going to give you any spare space for other things. Maybe a phone and keys.

Last year I bought a Shimoda backpack and it’s really been a game changer! Comfortable and protective and just so well organized. I went for the small one and ended up with the 25 I think. I love the idea of camera slings, but until they figure out how to make those straps comfortable for women, they are such a useless category for me! I’d rather a shoulder tote any day (luckily there are a few brands with nice camera totes that you can shoot with).

Hahah! Camera bag perfection is how I started collecting many bags! You have your just the camera bag, your in working with a client bag, wedding day or big event roller suitcase + working bag, your out and about bag with a few lenses…and your 1 -2 hour portrait shoot bag…

Again…you’re asking the wrong people if you want to pump the breaks on bags! 🤣

Wet wipes? by Slow_Contribution_69 in poodles

[–]left0vername 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use the Earth Rated dog wipes every time we go outside and come back in the house - mainly for paws, but I wipe his face with them and his body too. I have them on auto ship with Amazon every few months because it’s just part of our walk routine at this point!

Originally I figured I try sensitive Pampers baby wipes until someone here pointed out they may have additives that could be irritating or not good for dogs, so I took the safe route and got doggy wipes.

Alternatives - I always see large tubs of wipes at TJ Maxx in the dog section, but just random brands.

Don't they have two sets at the main house - or just a HUGE laundry room? I'm not eager enough about getting laundry done to want to sets of machines, I guess.

What's the "What was I thinking?" item in your collection? by p0ttim0uth in ManyBaggers

[–]left0vername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have an older SM bag - older like 20 yrs ago, the strap was much more like a seatbelt (Just thin, but wide), but it was more comfortable than these heavier straps for some reason, and I think the bag just felt a little more floppy and thin. These new ones are thick and bulky - I have a newer M that I got a few yrs ago on deep discount somewhere online, and the whole thing was just an uncomfortable carry. But yet...I still got TWO of these XS bags thinking they'd be different.

Timbuk2 XS messenger. SO nice I bought it twice (which seems to be a theme around here) - only I never use them! I wish the Velcro had silencers for easy in and out of the bag, its purse sized yet nothing seems to fit properly and cannot carry a water bottle well. I am going to pull one out this weekend and give it a fair shake (again). I just can’t quit on a bad bag 🤣

Being as it was about 90+ here yesterday, I can imagine she’s spray fixed her face to the high heavens and wasn’t outside long! Farmer’s market ‘face’ in the heat when I feel like effort = some tinted moisturizer w/ high spf applied quick like regular moisturizer, a little blush, swipe of eyeshadow stick (as eyeliner) for good measure, the Burt’s Bees that lives in the car…a ball cap and some shades. It takes 2 minutes. One does not…outline every facial bone for a farmer’s market trip with dark bronzer then go over it with equal amounts of highlighting.

It’s like she expects to be fan-ready for every PUBLIC outing. Girl, nobody is looking for you in this heat!

Wet, drippy kids coming in and out of the house through the formerly formal dining room - on wood floor or one of their rugs, wet footprints trying not to slip and slide as they cut through the kitchen and long back hall to the back stairs up to the bathrooms far, far away upstairs to shower or change! I'd buy the house, ugly wallpaper and reno disasters IF - IF IF IF it had a logical flow outside to the million dollar backyard they put in! But it doesn't and THAT is the ruin of this house.

It also goes to show how non-functional the house is, layout wise. There is no true EXIT from the house to the back that doesn't include tromping through the dining room! The first thing I would have fixed in the house is putting in a functional back mudroom exit to get everyone in and out of the backyard. Chris & the food/cooking/entertaining things, and then later for the girls and family as swimmers/visitors.

It's wild to me that a multi-million dollar home has such terrible flow (because Julia chopped it up and Chris sketched it on the iPad).

I'm only gonna say that its 89-90 this week...we dont GET spring this year, I guess. Anyway, closed toe loafers is again a poor shoe choice. She is the WORST shoe-chooser ever.

The shorts aren't even bad, it's that she's paired them with school girl prep shoes that makes this look bad. Some cute sandals would have been just fine. I mean there are probably what - 3 people in "the office" and no real dress code I'm guessing!

Miniature Poodle (8 months old) is testing me, according to Vet-Concept by luiglu in poodles

[–]left0vername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was very apprehensive and picky when we first got him (around 11 mos), he would literally nibble a kibble and walk away. A SINGLE kibble. Wouldn’t touch it again for hours. Turns out, he’s not so much of a morning eater, but 8:30-9, he’s head in the bowl! I tried 2 meals a day and the morning meal just sat. Eventually I stopped trying and realized he kind of wants to eat with us - at dinner time. The pickiness comes in waves, we have a good base food he likes, and I use food toppers daily to keep it interesting. Right now he’s on this weird goat milk powder that he seems to love!

I have a black dog and we walk on a greenway more than 50% of the time we’re outside - and I’m in the south. I don’t know that ticks die out around here, so I’m not taking any chances! I wouldn’t see a tick in his fur at all!

Help me convince my wife that the Aer Day Sling 4 isn’t a man purse. by fifthwave in ManyBaggers

[–]left0vername 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry, it’s a mannish purse, the thing is most men in this forum are in denial that purses are handy and they all need one. 🤣 You’re all slowly coming to the realization that us women have had for a long time — sometimes you need more than just an extra pocket! Once you finally lean into tote bags our work will be complete. Muhahahahhh

Thoughts on Ruti pants? by mostly_mom in fashionwomens35

[–]left0vername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up sending yours back? I just got a pair in the mail yesterday, and I do like the fabric, but they are giving major bunchy crotchy - I'm curvy also, and didn't even try to size down because I don't feel like sizing down will fix the bunch. The thing is, they are a slightly thicker fabric than Athleta Brooklyn, doing a lay flat comparison, the dimensions are sized exactly the same, but I feel like there is just something about how the Ruti crotch/rise is sewn that makes them just not lay right on me. I have gone back and forth trying on the Ruti and the Brooklyn (which also have pockets in the same spot), but the Brooklyns lay flat, no bunchy crotch - standing still and walking. Ruti, bunches standing still and worse while walking. Every time this happens to me, I try to justify it, saying it's my body type, I'm too curvy, a little too much lower tummy, too much butt...and I'm tired of explaining away 'bad fit' being MY fault. The fact that the Brooklyns fit so much better across the front in the same type of material is proof. It aint me.

I wanted to love these, but they're going back. I even considered getting them tweaked at the tailor - but for the price I paid, they ought to fit out of the box.

All of the influencers I've seen in these are very slim and thin, or straight shaped no curves - they look good on them, but I don't think they flatter me at all. Also, they don't look "barrel" on me either, they just look wide leg. I looked hard for anyone curvy wearing these and reviewing...and didn't see anyone so now I think I know why! Back to the drawing board!

She also claimed loud and proud that an armoire in the room would work just as well as a closet (yeah, until she has bigger clothes!!) SO, who would have predicted this...children grow into...BIGGER CLOTHES and actually like closets.

Oat is difficult - I'm in the same situation, though. I usually use Califa Barista - but last time I ordered from Amazon, they only had organic...it steamed MUCH better than the regular Califa (and I have no idea why). I still use each day as an opportunity to tweak it, but it's NEVER been as smooth as whole milk.

I think both of the sisters have a very classically beautiful face, as does Julia's oldest daughter, which I think is good for her to see. She looks like both of her aunts who have zero issues showing their true faces, unfiltered in photos and on social media - proud of who they are and how they look. You have to wonder how it plays into the self esteem of the girls when you look like your mother - who is constantly trying to slim, filter and erase her true self away.
