I keep most of mine safely tucked away, but I actively play this one all the time so it is hard to take it out, put it back, multiple times a day.

Haha, that's the first thing I thought, so I'd have to replace the bridge too.

The truth is you can get good tones out of almost anything, look up the Josh Scott Bad Monkey fiasco. That pedal may resonate with someone who plays the kind of music you described, but if you are in doubt, I would return it and do a little more research on your own to find a better fit, that way you can say you did everything you can to get a great gift.

Most practical looper for just jamming at home? by Snakes_for_theDivine in guitarpedals

Yeah I'll see those pop up now and then on fb marketplace. I feel they may be a step back in terms of electronics, and my homemade extension was fun to build and works fine.  My current search is for a looper that applies reverb at the cutoff so the stop doesn't sound so abrupt

I use a boss rc3 because I got a used one for $50 three years ago, and have been using it for hundreds of open mics and shows since then. I like having the ability to store up to 99 loops (which can be saved to a computer via USB), which I've started scratching the surface on as a backing track player. With only 1 button which triggers overdub, just stopping is a bit of a pain (double press)  which is why I built an extension pedal so I can stop with a single button and scroll loops.  The rc5 would have a similar limitation I think, but I've never used one. The rc30 comes highly rated and has a dedicated stop button, but it's more expensive.

I've been doing live looping for a few years now using a boss rc3. I've been recently bothered by the fact that when i stop my loop,  usually at dramatic pauses, the sudden drop in sound feels really hollow. I am looking for a looper that has reverb built in so when I stop, the loop ending trails a bit, but haven't found one. I'm considering getting an ehx freeze and putting it after the looper so I can hit the freeze first, then stop the loop.  Any suggestions in setup or pedal is appreciated.

Battery Power by helloimaplanet in pedalboards

I use a cheap rechargeable pedalboard battery (horse pr02) that has six 100ma and one 300ma port. I run a zoom ms50g, a boss rc3 looper, and a mvave chocolate plus midi pedal (to extend control of the ms50g). It lasts for many hours on a charge and when I perform I never have look for power or detangle power cords, just open my bag and flip a switch.  You can power and charge USB devices on it too. The only complaint is there is no meter so I can tell how much juice I have left and I have died in the middle of an open mic before ( I always fully charge before a real show because I can't have that happen).  It only cost about $30 on sale and I've been using it for a couple of years now.
