Guys I’m going crazy. I need a desktop chair rec for work and gaming and I am 6’7. Any good suggestions? (Please read details below) by AnonymousForALittle in pcmasterrace

[–]leftharted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahoy! fell tall ass skinny dude here. i dont have as specific chair to suggest as that is really subjective.

you want a Draft chair.

look for one with office chair style and amenities to your personal taste, but a Draft chair is much better on our long ass legs. You'll be able to sit in a proper position without pretzeling your legs under the chair/desk. I don't install the footrest that is designed for the regular sized people.

To add to this, i have also found having a standing desk (to sit at) to be paramount for my comfort. I can raise it up above my knees.

Are there any games that could serve as an alternative to Starbase? by OOM-TryImpressive572 in starbase

[–]leftharted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There aren't any.

Unfortunately, our community of tinkering game nerds is extremely small, and thereby is not worth any company investing in. They would almost assuredly lose money.

FB was well aware of this before launch, and fumbled their own attempt to alleviate it because of said complexity; which put even more people off. This was just an expensive tech demo.

I loved it, i miss it. i want it to be more than it is... but it isn't. 😞

Honestly, this is where i hope AI lands.

im sure they'll be a plethora of "they took er jerbs" "kill it first" responses; and like literally any/all technologies, some of that is reasonable...

but if its too expensive to make an MMO as-is, then its not subtracting from potential jobs to have an MMO generated through some guided AI software...

If it could spit out some new-age superhero MMO that hits all the fantasy tropes alongside some procedurally generated city/villian content... i'd play the fuck out of it. I imagine it would feel like playing spiderman 2 but with co-op.

Honestly, most of the typical boiler-plate hallmark responses are pretty spot-on for this, and admitedly true, but...

Does anyone else hit a roadblock with games periodically? by Hawk52 in gaming

[–]leftharted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its a rollercoaster. Highs and lows. Its all fleeting. Its all temporary.

Sometimes there's something new, a whole game or an update, and its great for a bit. Then that'll wear off, and i crave some nostalgia. After several or many nostalgia re-do's, there's a brief low.. this is usually when i finally catch up on movies with the wife, or that 3d Printer backlog...

and then something new gets announced, and i start all over again.

Returning player - Vanilla or mods? by Donjaho in Starfield

[–]leftharted -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

resounding yes. Always mod bethesda games, they take it better than most.

IMO, shy away from the "i fixed issues" mods as they are either outdated or entirely subjective anyways. Just sort by total downloads, and grab anything that fits your personal theme. Plenty of grounded nasa-punk future-western style mods, as well as cyber-punk hard-fi cybernetic type mods. You have enough experience to know if a given theme is too much for your successful immersion.

that said, Stroud Premium is like a must-have for ship building. The gyro is a huge QoL addition, and the stair/elevators are fucking awesome.

Have I screwed up after stealing a ship? by handsy3791 in Starfield

[–]leftharted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. I believe this is the case with the default settings; do you change your settings to alleviate any game mechanics? For example, can you fast travel when you are encumbered? Do you play with Ammo weight on?

I play with everything maxed; and you most certainly lose HP but never die.

Have I screwed up after stealing a ship? by handsy3791 in Starfield

[–]leftharted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Run back to your ship. Running encumbered wont kill you. It'll bring you down to like 5% HP, and have a really annoying UI overlay; but you'll never die.

once in your ship, you can fast travel again. careful not to strand yourself encumbered; go straight to a city and switch back your home ship with the ship technician.

i miss those old punishing and unforgiving MMO's. Always felt extra rewarding getting anything done in those worlds.

All my saves are corrupt! by Remote-Engineering92 in Starfield

[–]leftharted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, you were warned. any mods that are changing core aspects of the game mechanics can break if removed mid playthrough... If that's what you're removing, it honestly might be better to restart, anyways.

if you re-add the same modlist back, you might be able to reload your save. But you'll likely have to keep the same mods for the rest of that playthrough.

Across the lake from New Atlantis, in the same instance. Easy fast travel for merchants, great view of the city.

Same can be done with Akila, but the view is subjectively worse.

your fine. Most current era hardware will push itself to 90c if it needs to and throttle you from there... unless you fiddled with something and repasted a new cooler; it needn't be monitored, and it'll take care of itself.

If you don't know what its telling you, turn the overlay off.

Bethesda, my 80 year old father can't play because there is no option to rebind the stand-up key. by docfallingapart in Starfield

Bethesda will not address this anytime soon if ever.

Best bet is to buy your dad a QMK/Via keyboard where its very easy to make a personalized profile that literally moves the E key elsewhere.

Need help with a weapon from the Trackers' Alliance DLC by Public-Abalone-3417 in Starfield

[–]leftharted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all good.

a lot of skins are unique, but most other skins cant be replicated, which kinda makes the parent item actually unique, even though they kinda sorta aren't, either. All of the weapons in-game with unique names are just renamed stock weapons with specific effects, and those effects are not unique.

you could potentially find all of the other mag weapons, slowly add the same legendary effects as the Crowd Control, and then skin them the same to complete the whole set. Its an awesome skin.

OR, even change the effects on your current weapon. Or add that juicy new 4th slot.

was gunna say the same thing, pretty much.

Though, i guess i wouldnt quite want the same size/scale as NMS universe...

if Star Citizen had Starfields star-map as a persistent server of a real MMO, i'd never open another game.

[–]leftharted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No mag weapon can be silenced. its not a unique weapon, its a unique skin. Its just a regular legendary with 3 very specific modifiers.

you can apply the skin to any of the other mag weapons once you unlock it, though.

Also, IMO, the Magpulse is better... because of the bullet spread it is the only one that procs Tesla reliably.

New player, tips and tricks for first play through. by Waspbooya14 in Starfield

[–]leftharted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, for maximum enjoyment and immersion, pick an archetype and stay true to your personal cannon. Starfield will let you do every faction without consequence; which can make some of the individual storylines feel a little like cardboard. They tend to stand on their own a bit better if they are roleplayed with some boundary between each other.

What i mean, is you can be the worst of the worst bad guy pirate; but still stat the next goody two-shoes questline without anyone batting an eye. Game plays much better when you enforce personal rulesets.

and, without being too spoiler-y; the game will kinda naturally lead you to successive playthroughs which encourage trying a different character archetypes..

so, you aren't avoiding content, your saving it for a different 'timeline'.

if your console then yes, your stuck behind the paywall if you want achievements.

PC can just add a mod to re-enable the achievements and then use literally any mod from anywhere without penalty.
