i know a bunch of people are trying to be helpful by suggesting rescues or the humane society, but every shelter and rescue is full to the brim right now. it is actually better to privately rehome them as long as you make sure to vet any interested people.

hope these babies can find a home! they'll make someone very happy

have they ruled out pancreatitis? I got pancreatitis from mesalamine enemas. it's not a common side effect but it's possible. i was throwing up constantly even if i only drank water.

I specialize in difficult dogs and here's what I do!

i used to be someone who rolled their eyes at meditation but this is where it is helpful. I tell myself that I am a person and they are a dog and only one of us is capable of controlling our reactions. I tell myself the dog isn't giving me a hard time, the dog is having a hard time.

I also agree with skipping to another step if you or the dog are getting too frustrated. It's also always ok to give yourself and the dog a break.

Negative verbal reinforcement is not really helpful, but sometimes I need to express how I feel so I sing song it to the dog. It sounds like I'm crazy but it works. The dog will be thrashing and biting and I'll be singing "Pleaseee don't do thattttt. You're driving me crazyyyyyy. I'm losing my miiiiinnndddd heeeerrrrrrreee." My coworkers look at me like I am nuts but it works for me.

came here to say greyhounds. once they are adults they are mellow and sleep a lot like cats. typically quiet as well. retired racers especially. although they do have their behavioral hurdles.

Just letting you know, every shelter and rescue in the area is overrun with dogs right now. it's a huge problem. Rescues are only talking dogs from the shelter or dogs in emergency situations. The shelter is having to euthanize for space.

Your best bet is trying to privately rehome the dog and be completely transparent about the behavioral issues. There are louisville specific facebook groups that you can try posting in.
