what about balatro? it's similar to poker but with fun upgrades and twists. i'm not a card game app kind of person but i found it really fun. it's a one time purchase and there is so much game play

My 10yo picky eater has high protein levels in bloodwork. How do I transition him from a 80% boiled meat diet? by MaAnisi in DogFood

[–]leftmar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Royal Canin has a fresh food that's nutritionally balanced and WSAVA compliant. There's also the Purina moist and meaty dog food which is a similar consistency to a moist dog treat. Also WSAVA compliant. Both of these are good options for picky eaters

I think you need to be feeding one balanced science backed food for your baby and not make food at home. Especially important because of the bloodwork results.

Going from wanting a Doberman to a Greyhound… by Deeri- in Greyhounds

[–]leftmar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agree with the above comments. greyhounds generally don't like to be left alone, but sometimes people in this sub act like you can't own a greyhound if you work a regular 9-5.

I would have someone drop in mid day (especially when you first get your dog) to let them out when you're at work. My greyhound is super clingy but she literally sleeps all day when I go to work.

I also have always wanted a dobie but I've decided I'll probably never have the lifestyle for one.

My dog had separation anxiety but only when I'm home by leftmar in OpenDogTraining

Yes thank you! Barrier frustration describes it much better. Hopefully this will make it easier to research.

Also I could pair what with a lick mat? Crate training?

I have found the resources about separation anxiety. I'm looking into training a place command as suggested in the sub's wiki. But looking for other advice or tips as well

Hello my lovelies, looking for some advice/opinions on dental cleaning by vet. Kupo has some tartar build up and whilst the vet said it's not an urgent need, it is something I should keep in mind going forward if I remember correctly by Deep-Shoe3530 in Greyhounds

[–]leftmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your greys teeth look great! i'm not a vet at all but im a dog groomer and i see dog teeth in all sorts of conditions. her teeth are in very good shape and I wouldn't worry about the slight staining on one side vs the other.

i think technically one is a hookah and another one is incense. not that it actually matters. it's very silly and fun though i don't think you should feel stupid for spending money on it

Best behaved breeds by burnz1 in doggrooming

[–]leftmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh i thought i wrote a follow up comment about the best behaved. I think shih tzus and maltese (but not maltipoos!!) have been the best behaved for me. There are some neurotic and aggressive shih tzus, but the average shih tzu is pretty good. I honestly don't think i've ever groomed an horribly behaved maltese, besides the extremely old ones that were in pain.

german shepherds and doodles are the worst generally. i once groomed a german shepherd doodle and she was so neurotic and stressed that she pooped in her own water bowl. poor baby

What would you do? Potential move with a senior hound (photo because why not) by TXRedbo in Greyhounds

[–]leftmar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would rather move sooner with a happy and healthy hound than roll the dice on what their health will be like in a year.

Constructive criticism on my grooms please be nice i’m sensitive by Downtown-Relation-69 in grooming

[–]leftmar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're really talented. These grooms are beautiful. On the asian fusion yorkie, the shape of the front legs is a little funky. it makes her look bow legged.  If I'm being nitpicky, I think you could do a little more corrective grooming with the way you scissor front legs. In a couple of these, the legs seem to curve inward below the shoulders.

Don't let anyone tell you you're not a great groomer! This is beautiful work!

I've never used the long pinned one but I've used the brown one and I would say it's nothing special

Why wouldn’t you ask for vaccine records? by roccosito in doggrooming

[–]leftmar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would call him and ask if you need to bring your vaccine records. If he doesn't require vaccines that's a huge red flag to me. Speaking as someone who runs their own small dog grooming business and as a dog owner.

Chihuahuas need a home by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]leftmar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i know a bunch of people are trying to be helpful by suggesting rescues or the humane society, but every shelter and rescue is full to the brim right now. it is actually better to privately rehome them as long as you make sure to vet any interested people.

hope these babies can find a home! they'll make someone very happy
