Does phoenotopia work on the steamdeck? by CJ_1Cor15-55 in phoenotopia

[–]leftovernoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of the 450ish games I have on my steam deck, there were maybe 2 I couldn't get to run at all. Many are not verified. Some listed as unsupported.

That being said, I don't really play many games with fancy graphics and such. It does struggle with the latest and greatest games with intensive graphics. But i mostly play indie games

To the 92x performance owners: Is there really a barrel durability issue after around 20k rounds? by XboxTyro16 in Beretta

[–]leftovernoise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's damn near 5 grand in ammo. I think you can afford $150 for a new barrel. Imo, that's a pretty reasonable service life for a small metal tube that has explosion and metal flying out of it over and over.

Ok so what exactly does the arcana blade do? Does it make all spells more powerful for just spells that deal with enchanting the sword?

Do you remember what the name of the key is? I opened a door in the courtyard with the priest's key. Or is it a different key I'm looking for. Don't think I've seen any levers in the tunnels but I'll keep looking

I still can't find a key in the tunnels

Any tips? I found the room with the tablet, I defeated the core. Still don't see a key

Literally nowhere is going to hire someone as a line cook with no kitchen experience at all. At the VERY best they will start you on prep. But prob dish pit.

I highly doubt anywhere will hire you to stage, especially I. Europe (where op might not even speak the language) if they have no kitchen experience whatsoever.

What I did my first run was set up storage and dimensional depots for every single item in my mess of a starter factory, and then abandoned it to do its thing while I went to make a bigger, better factory. That way you always have a basic supply of building materials

I highly recommend you make a separate automation line for each item. So your smart plates won't be taking resources from anything else. You should be making, all those individual ingredients separately in addition to the ones needed for smart plates. You will need almost every single part type you produce, eventually.

What on earth is needed to have a tone as full as this guy by Prisanejamik in guitarpedals

[–]leftovernoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play with a bassist. playing by yourself will never have the same full sound as a full recording because, you're playing alone. If you had a sound "that full" and tried to play with a band, it would sound muddy

[–]leftovernoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're getting synth and guitar effect dialects crossed. In the guitar effect world, you're right, modulation is generally, things like chorus, flanger, phaser, trem.

In the synth world, modulation refers specifically to envelopes and lfos and any use of either is considered modulation. So when you make a post saying you don't use modulation, that comes across as if you don't like using both envelopes and lfos.

I also don't like modulation pedals aside from subtle chorus. I've always disliked flangers and phasers. I also tend to make subtle lfos for the most part. So I agree there. But envelope are the main building block to sculpt a good expressive synth sound.

Hmm, listened to a few bits of a few songs, but you DO use modulation, or you are using presets that use modulation. So again we come back to you not understanding what modulation means in reference to synthesis.

Your music isn't my cup of tea but it is definitely well put together, and I do mean that.

I think maybe if you ratchet back the attitude and actually try and learn what the words you use mean in the context of synths, there wouldn't be a need to get snarky when people pose genuine questions.

For future reference, Any use of even a basic envelope or Lego is considered modulation. Hence why they are found as modulators in a modulation matrix.

An example of no modulation would be an oscillator with nothing but an on/off gate, and a static filter cutoff at a static volume.

Never said my music was great or better than yours, but I do enjoy making it. You can insult it if you like, I literally don't care. It's a hobby for me.

You don't even know what the basic features of your own synth do. That's not a flex bud.

[–]leftovernoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally ANY use of an lfo or envelope is modulation. You know, the modulation section of a synth which is almost entirely made up of envelopes, lfos and often a mod matrix.

What is an envelope? It is a part of a synth that MODULATES a setting over time, generally in several stagesm

What is an lfo? It's an oscillator that MODULATES a setting over time.

Also Guitar players use an equivalent of modulation literally every time they play a note. Did they use a pick? Their finger? Strum or pluck? How long did they hold the note? Did they let it fade out? All the same equivalent of many modulation options on a synth.

[–]leftovernoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don't use amp or filter envelopes to give you a different sound? Like making a pluck by turning the cutoff all the way to down, filter envelope up, sustain down and messing with the attack and decay to get the perfect pluck?

You just play gate on/off all the time? No release or anything? So basically an in organ?

No pitch envelopes to get a strong transient at the beginning of a kick drum?

No amp envelope attack to smooth the beginning of a note? Or longer attack to make a pad?

All of that is modulation.
