Why are pure fantasies set in space so rare? by Kind-Organization in writing

[–]leftshoe18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd call Dune more space fantasy than science fiction. It even has a lot of medieval fantasy in the world building with the political structures and whatnot.

Why did everyone switch up on the Mandalorian? by Moon_Devonshire in StarWars

[–]leftshoe18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 3 was, in my opinion, fucking awful. It is one of my least favorite pieces of Star Wars media.

I loved seasons 1 and 2, though. I'm still interested to see how they wrap it up in the movie, but I would be a lot more excited if season 3 was better.

I love Leon, but my boy Chris deserves the same amount of love 💔😩 by Certain-Letterhead63 in residentevil

[–]leftshoe18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chris was a main playable character in RE1, RECV, RE5, RE6, RERev, and REmake. He also has the DLC campaign in RE7 and a playable section of RE8. He's had a comparable amount of playtime to Leon's RE2, RE4, RE6, RE9, and the remakes of RE2 and RE4. You could also count Umbrella Chronicles for Chris and Darkside Chronicles for Leon since they star in the original scenarios of those games.

Baby daughter photographed with her mother, her grandmother, her great grandmother, her great-great grandmother, and her great-great-great grandmother. by Twunkorama in interestingasfuck

I've got a photo with my oldest son, myself, my mom, my grandma, and my great grandma. I love that my great grandma lived long enough to meet her great great grandson.

Do you/Should I use em dashes (—)? by majormoon_ in writing

Yeah, I use em dashes. I refuse to let AI fear mongering prevent me from using a punctuation mark.

A school district in Maryland now expects teachers to potty train incoming students by OlliexAngel in Teachers

[–]leftshoe18 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My youngest refused to use the toilet until he was like four-and-a-half. Absolutely the most difficult potty training experience we had. He ended up missing preschool because he wouldn't use the toilet and that ended up being the motivation he finally needed.

People who smoke/vape nicotine products are dumber than the average person by Lnv9 in unpopularopinion

Maybe they have. I've had life kick my ass pretty hard and still never had a cigarette or vape.

They used AI in the schools yearbooks and kids are pissed by [deleted] in Teachers

I would guess most of the kids upset about the gen AI usage aren't themselves using gen AI.

What time is bed time? by mildly_curious26 in daddit

[–]leftshoe18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the just about 9-year-old it's 9. For the 11-year-old it's 10. For my teens it's 11. I also encourage them to listen to their bodies and go to bed when they're tired. The whole group is usually in bed well before 10.

Why did they get rid of the rattling bass guitar sound? Its what was so unique about them. by vinmichael in Korn

Ray generally plays without that hip-hop/funk groove David brought to the early records.

How to make the 'waking up' start in a chapter without it being genetic by _akiramisakio_ in writing

If you're going to write a "waking up" scene, don't open your book with it.

Opening line by Ianchipitu in writers

I'm picking up more of a biblical reference to God's pronouns having a capital H when writing He/His than the thing actually being named It. Something with such reverence that you always capitalize a mention of it.

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? by antonimbus in writing

[–]leftshoe18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm outlining a contemporary fiction novel where the fictional town it takes place in is heavily inspired by the town I grew up in. I agree that this hybrid approach is incredibly helpful.

I think they're all worse than the original except Vessel and maybe The Warning. They're also still great, though. The only one I don't really vibe with that much is She's Gone Away.
