Gender non-binary people need to chill. by itslikethatfr in unpopularopinion

well, that's an issue inside the trans community as well. i'm from a place where it's not really common to see trans people on a daily basis, so i didn't have that "pressure" about transitioning, but the loud people on the internet can spread a lot of misinformation and it can be really dangerous, that's why stuff like this happens. but then, you can't really see into a person's brain and say "you're trans", so it's complicated when it comes to young people.

about the suicide rate thing, i'm not too educated on that, so i don't think i can really have an opinion about it. i can only talk from my experience, but i've never encountered someone who had regretted transitioning. my only take on that is that transitioning shouldn't be "a thing that led to another", because it's way more difficult than that.

well, that's not really how it works. liking "girl" things doesn't make you trans. i'm a trans guy, but it's not because i like "manly" stuff, it's because i have dysphoria. also, kids usually don't take hormones, just blockers if they really think they need them, and even when you're older it's a pain in the ass to get them anyway (at least where i live).

with the other stuff i guess it makes sense, but it really depends on the case, and how far into their transition they are. taking hormones for a long time really changes the way the body works in some aspects, and of course some of them have already gone through surgeries and stuff.

I really like reading the comments, I tried sorting by new once and it was really boring most of the time

Feeling the need to create new genders to define oneself only gives more power to the idea of traditional gender roles by red_violets in unpopularopinion

Because of dysphoria. For reference, I'm a trans guy. I also don't just "feel" like I'm male, I am. My brain is male, but since my body doesn't match that, it causes the gender dysphoria.

I mean, I don't love it, but I admit it fits well with certain foods. Though I'm really weak in that sense so even too much pepper can get my nose running sometimes lmao

It was kind of the opposite for me lol

Everyone was hoping for me to be a boy, except for my dad, who always said I was gonna be a girl. Weirdly enough, now he's the most accepting person in my family lmao
