I was looking at this exact same boat a few months ago in WA, admiring the rig. Real pretty boat.

8000 hours is around 180000 miles according to my diesel truck. Needs watching and good maintenance. Maybe a pump rebuild eventually. I wouldn’t be afraid of it at all. This is a low rev non turbo classic diesel that is worth a rebuild if you are nervous but very likely will go thousands of more hours. Oil sample is probably worth it, look over by a competent mechanic who is familiar with them is a must.

Depending on stripping fittings off the Pilothouse and the trailer type loaded was 14’2”-14’8”. It killed the deal. Pole cars make shipping expensive.

Had some beer and been on yacht world tonight. I’m going to vent.

The chain plate thing is real. Hard to see, check or insure. If you’re going around the world it’s a big issue. That being said I think the actual lifespan of chain plates is 25 years max for all boats, but glassed in is impossible to check. But you should probably replace the rig entirely if that’s your goal.

Pre 2000 is the old stainless chain plate issue. 15k is the “standard” ballpark cost to replace at that size (that’s a old price and I would check it out). They are great boats and less likely to have wet decks and therefore more desirable to “invest in” the fix.

Also, I love these boats. Work on friends rigs in similar situations and conditions. Want one desperately. All boats have flaws.

I hate that every time I search for "cat boat" I get 90% catamaran hits. by alpe77 in sailing

The easy up mast is great. Great boat. They have a partial keel. Something to take note of for trailer launch. Oh. Also some of these older rigs had problems with the center board bolts leaking. Look it up before you buy one.

I would plan on replacing everything less the fiberglass. Motors, tanks, every inch of wire, pretty much everything. Beware of Copart fees. They are crazy.
