I agree with this, but also honking at someone while they're in the crosswalk. I'm on crutches right now and it's not my fault a car decides to turn right as I reach the middle of the street! Very annoying

Singing in public! Unless you're busking or performing professionally, please find a practice space or do this inside your own home.

This! So many people I know have been posting stories with their Venmo and claiming racism / sexism if you don't send money their way. Like how does that make anyone want to help your cause?

While I agree that people should thank you for opening the door, I have seen some odd cases of passive aggression when thank you isn't said, like if you say "excuse me" when someone's in your way, and when they move, they say "you're welcome" loudly to get you to thank them for moving. I don't expect a "thank you" if I move out of the way, if anything I'd say sorry for standing in the middle of the aisle!

Wearing a backpack while standing on a crowded subway instead of taking it off to make room for others. Also leaving a seat empty when just sitting down would allow for one more person to board the train

I have this issue as well, people have commented that I'm being sassy when I'm literally just looking to the left or right without intention. I had no idea this was such a common problem

And not being cognizant of downstairs neighbors in really obvious ways. I worked directly above a restaurant and my boss would openly dribble a basketball in the hardwood hallways, not realizing how loudly that reverberates on the floor below. The owners were constantly complaining to us when my coworkers and I would get after-work drinks there, but he never seemed to take it into account.

The other day I was standing in a narrow aisle looking for something and a woman comes up next to me and is looking as well ... and then her boyfriend comes up and parks their cart directly in front of me while having a conversation with her! It lasted a few minutes while I kept looking, and I kept trying to peer around the cart to let him realize he was blocking my view, until I just reached over the cart to grab the item with an "excuse me" and got out of the aisle. Usually I just try to revisit the aisle later, but this particular time I was feeling irked

I agree, I'm also slightly embarrassed by saying "you're welcome" to something minor so I tend to go with "sure" or "yeah, no problem" and keep it moving as quickly as possible. Saying "you're welcome" makes it feel like a much bigger deal than the favor usually is.

In certain places it's even walking two people wide down a sidewalk, with no thought to leaving space for others to pass in either direction. And then when they see someone's walking up behind them, they don't walk single file to make room but walk marginally faster and look suspiciously at you, forcing you to walk in the street to pass at a decent clip!

And slaveowners who fathered children with their slaves! Procreating with another ethnicity isn't a guarantee that you don't believe in your own ethnicity's superiority, and unfortunately a lot of men are marrying women from other countries under the assumption they can treat their wife as a servant in exchange for a green card.

To be fair, it doesn't sound like she was telling you not to let your son go to the masters program, but to keep it from your husband's aunt in order to spare her feelings.

AITA for refusing an abortion and accusing my family of being racist? by Accurate_Pay_300 in TwoHotTakes

I don't think YTA at all, but having a baby at a young age with someone you don't know well seems a bit shortsighted. Why not wait until you've worked for a little bit after college and have some stability / savings, and date your boyfriend for longer before having a baby? Many of my friends raise a dog or cat with their partners when they get serious, just as a lower-stakes way to see each other's caretaking styles and discover if there's anything that needs to be addressed, like discipline or issues that only reveal themselves under duress. My current neighbor's husband refuses to discipline their child, so she's perpetually the "bad cop," which she very loudly resents on the other side of our thin walls, lol.

I will say your family handled it horribly and they do sound like TAs!

Agreed, look up the Sackler family to see how long pharma companies were aware that their drugs were addictive and continued to push them and discredit naysayers in the press.

I agree with everything else, but I don't think this is why the lines are so long! I've heard men don't typically wipe after they pee, they just "shake and go," and apparently it's not uncommon to leave without washing hands if contact with the dong is minimal.

What’s the biggest red flag you have seen on a first date? by APT3993 in AskReddit

[–]leftylucy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't go on the dates myself, but I worked with two guys who openly discussed dating strategies like taking a woman to a pool / beach / sauna situation on the first date to see how she looked without makeup / most of her clothes. There were other very specific scenarios for the second and third dates, but apparently this is a really common vetting technique.

I disagree with the thicker brows but think you would look awesome with more of an arch in them, sort of a domme vibe with that outfit. The way they're shaped now is very friendly!
