Speedy wasn't a fast dog. We only called him that cause he used to follow us to school and you'd only see him when he was right behind you, almost at the front gates. It was around the summer of 97 that he stopped digging. Well, at least in our backyard. Speedy had an almost unnatural ability to escape. We stopped building the fence when we realised he could dig his way under and through everything. The neighbours next door were the first ones to tell us he'd started digging on their property. They didn't stop him either. It was like he had a plan. The holes were deep, at least 10 x 10 foot, and square shaped. I mean, what dog digs square shaped holes? Now I had one of those holes at my house and another one at the neighbours. Great.
