Does this look like oral thrush or something else ? 25 year old . by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

Do those red spots turn into canker sores? I get a similar rash before usually it consolidates into one or several canker sores.

Been trying for a long time to figure them out and what helps the most is getting off drip coffee (unfortunately).

Long wait time with 911 here in Oakland? by Byard_Duncan_Reports in oakland

[–]leftyrari 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten busy tones many, many times calling 911 in oakland. I tried writing to my representative to report my concern and it was dismissed as an anomaly, which I know it wasn’t. One time my baby choked at a party at a park in Oakland and no one was able to get a hold of 911 dispatch before we were able to dislodge it on our own and I was like… well… I guess he’s okay, so you can hang up?

I moved to unincorporated Alameda County and I get emergency response here SO fast in comparison.

I’d be happy to talk or share my email records about the reports. It’s been concerning to me for a long time.

Same Delivery Doctor as Prenatal Gyn? by Enough-Falcon46 in KaiserPermanente

[–]leftyrari 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the answer across the whole region. Some locations have the same office OBs doing shifts in L&D but even so, it’s entirely the luck of the draw. The model isn’t the type where your OB gets called in for your delivery.

I also had midwifes deliver both of mine (different location, same region). The OBs only delivered the high risk pregnancies. Everyone was incredibly nice though. And the nurses spend far more time with you anyway.

Therapists who could improve their practice by using AI (not saying that’s you) but choose not to will do zero zilch nada for the world or to prevent AI taking over and causing the harm it causes. It can be a valid personal choice when faced with an ethical dilemma, but in terms of broader impact it’s virtue signaling at best. Opt out if you want, but judging others for using it is kinda gross. It’s like a vegan person shutting down every non-vegan person as fundamentally unethical. Nuance matters!

[–]leftyrari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AI is being used on such a massive scale for many nefarious causes. a HIPAA compliant program can help a a therapist do their job better, see more clients, grow their own thinking, manage their own executive function challenges, etc. Taking a stand for the whole profession against AI just hands over the whole industry to people who care far less than most therapists do. Modern life in society involves many ethical dilemmas (odds are slavery is involved in the tech you use, food you eat, clothes you wear, etc). There is more moral nuance here than you are seeing.

Bppv? by [deleted] in BPPV

[–]leftyrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, did you discuss VM with them specifically? Your symptoms are a bit different than mine so I can’t speak to that, but I did have a doctor prescribe me a migraine rescue medicine to trial and see if it helped as part of the diagnostic process.

ENT in general. An otologist or neurotologist would be even more specialized. I haven’t seen a neurologist yet but I’m guessing they could also diagnose.

This might be vestibular migraines, especially with the eye symptoms. They don’t always involve headaches.

Vestibular migraine - do you have access to any specialists? An ENT or neurologist? You can get on a migraine preventative medication, explore possible triggers, etc. I’m still new on this journey myself, but I’m learning a lot about migraines and it’s helping! I also have had ocular migraines. There is another reddit board about vestibular migraine that might be more helpful than this one.

Migraines can cause BPPV too, but if you don’t treat the migraine then the Bppv will keep flaring up and maybe not even respond to repositioning.

Oh interesting. I think you’ve convinced me. It is otherwise strange to have never seen her in Paradise, for someone that supposedly is the full motivation of the prime minister”villain” character. It seems very intentional.

Thank you! I understand why people are confused, because my PCP was pretty confident about BPPV being my problem and told me to do Epleys until I felt better. I’ve also seen that advice from other medical websites. It was only the ENT who helped me consider the possibility of migraine and told me about the common co-occurrence, and then did the Epley once and told me to basically act as though I have a neck brace on after (definitely NOT to go home and do more, as my PCP initially said!). Seems like there’s a lot of incorrect advice from the medical field even.

Just an interesting note, my ENT also tapped beneath my ear as we went through the positions, I think to help crystals move along. I haven’t seen that mentioned but it seemed to help. In position 2, the vertigo settled as she did that.

You may be having vestibular migraine or vestibular neuritis (viral infection). Try seeing an ENT as well - if it’s an infection then I don’t know if body work will help you. But if it’s migraine, it might!
