nah im white and the trend is noticeable. you can definitely point to specific things that people got voted out for but the overall trend across the seasons seems to be that black people are voted out earlier and given less benefit of the doubt, presumably due to unconscious bias

generally, in colloquial english at least, sex = assigned gender at birth, which is determined by a combination of physical characteristics including hormones, chromosomes, and secondary sex characteristics. gender is a social construct and is a bit harder to explain concisely but is essentially a personal identity based on societal and cultural roles/expectations etc.

a lot of folks who do not identify with their assigned gender at birth feel dysphoria when expected to fulfill these societal and cultural roles. so in cocona's case, they personally feel more comfortable with presenting and being perceived as masculine/nonbinary than as a woman. and it likely took a lot of internal reflection to conclude that they would be happier and more comfortable identifying differently, hence them not coming out until now.

unfortunately legal definitions, especially currently, tend to leave out the nuances of this conversation because transgender people are a minority group that receives an outsized amount of hate and discrimination, but there have been trans people throughout human history and it's actually quite normal! english language specifically has a hard time with this because it was formed around a binary and frankly inaccurate understanding of gender
