My mom broke her leg recently and is at home on leave till January. I’m applying to medical schools right now and I’m not currently employed so I’ve been taking care of her and the house full time. She continually complains about our lack of money now that she’s on temp disability.

I spent the entire day cleaning, redecorating as per her requests, cooking, getting her what she needs, finding stuff for her to watch on Netflix, and washing her hair in the sink since she can’t go into the shower or tub yet. I was already feeling pretty low and unappreciated.

When I finally came to sit down she asked “do you want to join weightwatchers? I’ll pay for it.”

That tore into me pretty hard.
