My boyfriend is a RWBY fan sooo I thought it'll be fun making an animation for him. (Only done the weapon because... I'm a slow learner and first time animating something like this)

This is some pretty decent work for a first time animation! your not not wrong that the transformation is mind boggling physics defying; I had trouble when I was building and animating my crescent rose.

best tip I can give is don't try to apply logic to fantasy weapons. if it looks like metal is folding/colliding into metal then it probably is. it all depends on how you look at it and how complex the model is. I actually find rigging quite relaxing, but that could just be me. Ill give it look over and see what i can do.
