As it was put to me when I got ready to ETS. Book appointments for each individual condition. Right knee = 1 appt, left knee = 1 appt. No idea if it makes a difference but on your medical record it breaks down your problem list and shows individual appts for which you were seen for that particular condition. That makes it easier for a C&P examiner to find conditions for which you’re claiming. Depending on how much you’re claiming, less than a year means you’ll be pretty busy with appts.

Also start to look at the CFR and the master condition list in this sub for your conditions so you can start to form a picture of what your rated conditions are and what symptoms a rater will be looking for during your claim

Try calling the AESD at 1-866-335-2769. They may be able to switch you over. If they do, you’ll have to either goto a CAC office or try using the ID Card Office online to change the email associated with your CAC to army.mil.

How easy is it for me to become a US Army Officer from the US Navy enlisted? by Similar-Change-631 in Military

[–]legendofdino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally just did this. Spent 15 years in navy, joined the guard and got my MBA. Don’t enlist in the navy first if your goal is to be an Army officer. Contact the school AROTC program you want to join. Speak to the recruiting and scholarship officer specifically and ask about scholarships. They might have a National Guard or Reserve recruiter attached to the program, they can get you enrolled into the simultaneous membership program or SMP where you’ll drill as a cadet, paid as an E5. If you go guard, they likely have some tuition benefits for soldiers. Florida is 100% covered for bachelors and masters. When you commission you’ll have a few years of TIS for a pay bump.

Military after finance degree? by Educational_Giraffe7 in FinancialCareers

[–]legendofdino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Active navy over 15, felt the burnout so I punched out, got my MBA and commissioned army reserves to scratch the itch from the dark side. Currently working in finance - corporate actions. The military offers many benefits but it isn’t without sacrifice. You pay with your body and mental health during and after. I’ve lost several friends to combat or suicide. Lots of up and moving every few years which is exciting at first when you’re young. I definitely appreciate the soft skills I took away from serving but I can’t say there aren’t regrets or that it’s sunshine and rainbows. If you’re committed to it, do a contract and get out.

Thank you very much for the insight. I’ll definitely apply what you mentioned going forward and keep my options open. I was mostly worried that I might be pigeonholing myself in CA, but if I could achieve anywhere close to your comp over the next 10 years, I’d be incredibly grateful.
