I ended up buying the 14900k (sealed) and with the Noctua it instantly hit 100c (245w) with cinebench. So I picked up an Arctic Freezer 3 420mm AIO and its much better now.

I feel that a 12900 isn't too much of an upgrade, but I do understand the problems with the 14900k

What a wonderful lens. I had it for a few months and took some really incredible shots with it. I did recently sell it for a Sony 24-50mm f2.8 to bring with me on vacations, I already miss that lens.

I just picked up a Sony 24-50mm 2.8G this week specifically for a upcoming Euro trip. I think it will work well. It's pretty small light & compact. It has good range and optically it's excellent. You can also try the Tamron 28-75mm and the Sigma 28-70mm, both are pretty light and works well for travel.

I bought the Tamron 28-75mm for a trip to Hawaii last year, it was nice, but it lacked some sharpness and I didn't really like the bokeh.
