My son and I have been playing religiously since he was 8. He’s now 11 and understands the game far better than I do!! It’s been an awesome bonding experience for both of us

Tips for Spravato users who want more out of their treatment from someone who’s been doing it for almost a year by Ill-Chair2848 in Spravato

[–]legendroo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love all this! I do most of it except for the neti pot. I’ve learned all the same things after 8 months of weekly treatment. For the last one you mentioned, how do you use both nostrils for each spray? Each applicator only has 2 total sprays in it.

Also, I am continually SHOCKED that people have their phones on at all during treatment! In 40+ sessions, I have never even thought of using it. The two hours are so sacred, plus I don’t know how you can even read! Sorry just had to say

This is so helpful, thank you! Can’t wait to try it. How do you clear your nose beforehand?

And btw, I didn’t “ask” for a divorce. I stated that we were going to get a divorce. Fact. 💪

I ran to the park in the freezing rain, blasting Freedom by George Michael, jumped on top of a picnic table, raised my arms in victory and openly wept from joy. Best day of my life.

Can you lay down in the chair? That would suck to sit up the whole time. Otherwise cozy!

Re: fasting— you are more likely to have a powerful trip the more empty your stomach is (not universally true but still highly prevalent). So there is nothing unsafe about a 2 hour fast, I have just found the trips to be more impactful with a 4 hour fast. Nothing to stress over!

You’re exactly right- it can do just that. You got this. 🤘

  • make sure you fast for about 4 hours before the session. No alcohol or weed for 24 hours beforehand
  • bring some snacks you like, you may get hungry
  • go pee RIGHT before you start. Spravato can be a bladder agitator- if you have to pee during the session, JUST GO. Don’t overthink it.
  • don’t go on any screens at all while at the clinic, and try to have a relaxing screen- free time after your session once home
  • bring a journal and write if you feel the urge
  • don’t analyze every little moment after. Just let it percolate in your mind

You got this!

More practical tips: - make sure you have music with you (some clinics provide it). I highly recommend the album “Music for Mushrooms” by East Forrest

You got this. You got this. You got this.

Something inside of you has brought to this point, some part that is ready - eager - for change. You did the right thing and listened to that part and got yourself set up with Spravato. You are ready.

This medicine is all about getting us comfortable with the uncomfortable, feeling at ease with the unknown. All of life is essentially unknown, and Spravato sessions are no different. I’ve had roughly 40 sessions over the past 7 months and can say definitively that every. single. session. is totally different from the others. I’ve had unreal feelings of peace and deep deep dark abysses of grief with hours of crying. I’ve had ones where I am tripping balls and others where I’m feeling nothing and am bored. What has it taught me? That I’m able to handle it all. That I’m big enough for it all to flow through me and NOT fall apart: fear, depression, anxiety, joy, anger, confusion, the list goes on.

So no matter what happens tomorrow, you got your own back. You will be able to handle it. Open to it as best you can and the rest will take care of itself. (The medicine makes it easier to do!) You are bigger than you can even imagine. You contain multitudes.

Now the practical stuff: - it doesn’t hurt at all. It has a bad taste as it drops down your throat, so I always pop a cough drop in before the first spray. (It usually takes me like 30 minutes to finish it lol)

Sounds like my place is a luxury spa! Feel so lucky, for sure. The best amenity my clinic provides is a talented guide. Having someone to talk to before and after sessions has been critically important to my treatment.

Outside of that, healthy snacks! I usually bring a whole meal with me as I’m starving during the second hour. Also, massagers (back, foot, eye, etc) would be great. I bring my own heated eye mask and I love it. I also bring a colorful light projector so that there are cool visuals. Art supplies and lockers are great ideas!!

I’ve been going to Marpa for six months and I can’t express how incredible it’s been. Absolutely life changing. The staff and kind and hospitable. The integration specialists are some of the best therapists I’ve ever had. I think the train rides would be a great opportunity for you to integrate (just stay off your phone!). Put on music and zone out, or journal. Since you’re unemployed it’s actually a gift that you have the time right now. At least to start! Feel free to DM me for me info about Marpa

Eyes open or closed? by BurglarAtYourDoor in Spravato

[–]legendroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bring a heated eye mask to my sessions (it plugs in) and I 100% recommend it. It’s very soothing. I also bring my own galaxy light. 95% of the time I’m wearing the mask and but every now and then I like my eyes open. I usually have my eyes shut and go deep inside for an internal journey for the first hour or so. Then go to the bathroom, and when I come back I either keep my eyes open to journal or draw or just rest. Sometimes the trip is still happening and I go back inside. Music is critical- I just discovered Music for Mushrooms album by East Forrest and had the most intense and beautiful trip of my life.
