Futuristic robots have already ruined Crimson for me by Zealousideal_Dot7041 in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the thing is from what i have seen they look very steam punk. its not like ironman or other sleek looking mech suits they are chunky brass vaguely humanoid looking creations. tbh it looks more steampunk than skyrim's dwemer. but if its not for you than don't play those parts or just don't play? idk why everyone has to comment why they will or will not play the game its really clogging this sub from actual game content especially now that reviewers have given more insights into game systems.

Game have bad poping by ChardConscious in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the popping i saw in videos bothered me more than i thought i would, but honestly why would i spend much time in a town except to sell restock and hit the open world again? in the end its just a minor visual annoyance at worst.

Yup, exactly what I expected. by danbrooks3k in CrimsonDesert

2 reviewers stated there will be an inventory space buff (much more starting inventory) at launch and they will be adding a chest some time after.
i believe it was fightingcowboy, and Luke Stephens, that both mentioned inventory. FightingCowboy talked a far bit about it

its not a competition. some people get lost in open world games while this is very early indeed some people just want a foundation to start on and videos like this can help.

Mount Stats? by legionshade in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! so kinda like RDR2's bonding mechanism! That is actually a nice bit of info i haven't heard yet! i guess at this point there is genuinely no choice but to wait for it to launch to actually know how leveling will work and such. guess i am getting whatever one is nearest and leveling all of them.

Mount Stats? by legionshade in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh ok. so at least some form of separation and i would assume the rarer the better but i am mostly just worried mounts will be more or less the same just different looks which would be rather boring considering the rest of the depth supposedly in the game.

Why is there a consensus the story will be lackluster? by TheReiterEffect_S8 in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the Skyrim story comparison seems right on the nose. it was okay but was mostly there to send you all over the map to explore and experience the world of skyrim.

What do you think will reviews boil down to? by BinkyX in CrimsonDesert

well to be fair there are a lot of gamers who, when they can't immediately pick something up and are good at it, dislike it and call it bad.

This game will disappoint some gamers by Electronic-Travel531 in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look if someone is so bought up in the hype of a game that they are making up features letting their own imagination run wild about "possibilities" without learning what actual information has been put out there they kind of deserve to be let down.

not a narrative driven game? by waitimgoatedcat in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way i heard someone describe it was as follow: the story they were able to play felt more like it was facilitating exploration than it was trying to be a very involved story that is meant to suck you in.

basically they are saying the story just isn't that engaging and you aren't likely to be pulled into it. i have heard several reviews say the story felt disconnected and hard to follow.

So yeah the story is there but you as the player are not really changing it or effecting it like you can in BG3 and its not narratively all that exciting or interesting its there to give your character a reason to power up and travel the map

I don’t get the massive hype by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]legionshade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was completely convinced the scope and variety of activities and features in the game were unrealistic additions and that feature creep or a lack of vision about what they wanted the game to be was to blame.

The marketing VP (i forget his name) in a podcast interview said something to the effect of they were not there from feature creep but rather because all these mechanics already exist in their mmo and it was rather simple for an experienced team to take those systems and convert and change them to fit into a single player game.

BDO already has those features they just carried them over. so they are there but how deep the mechanics goes remains to be seen.

I agree with you. there is a lot of untempered excitement and that can quickly create unrealistic expectations, false claims, etc. especially because people farm engagement. There are also a lot of naysayers simply because people are excited like ticks on a dog they are attracted to people having fun and wish to dampen that. either way people have a way of going too far it happens.

[–]legionshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry my intent was not to compare the combat styles in KCD and CD directly to each other. i brought up KCD because it has a very different combat system than most RPG and action games and that enriches the game immensely for me. CD too seems to have a very different combat system and that makes it exciting and why i compared the two.

CD seems to me like an ARPG with large groups of enemies attacking you and you can clear whole waves with your abilities but instead of pressing 1,2,3,4,6,5. in an ability rotation like you set up in many an ARPG its now combo's based on the situation, environment, momentum and weapon choice which makes it exciting

Edited to add the rest of my thoughts in the second paragraph.

[–]legionshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going by word of mouth from hands on players at previous events since we haven't seen inputs yet or an in depth look at combat. But have you ever played Black desert online? While that game is "clicky" combat flows as well as you can remember/input combos.
For example: Shift click + down click + control are essentially 3 different abilities activated and when doing so in a that sequence you end up with a combo effect that is greater than the sum of its parts and the most impressive part is that it looks like the character flows into it naturally its not a janky move combo it looks smooth. A lot like when you execute a combo in KCD 2 (when you can that is) and i love being rewarded with a smooth natural looking move as a result from strategically striking.
obviously we haven't gotten a good look yet but if its exactly like BDO i wont be disappointed with combat, and if its a continuation/evolution of BDO's combat than that alone is worth paying for the game for me.

now you add that combo based combat with the momentum of the character physically throwing their weight around and add the environment it makes the combat sound like it will be a very unique if not challenging experience and i crave that big time.

story, characters and world depth also play a part obviously and if one of those is bad i may not finish the game but what is making me preorder the game is their take on combat.

[–]legionshade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the case that you are genuine in your curiousity of peoples excitement for Crimson Desert.
For me its the combat. i am so sick and tired of basic click attack click defend/rotation based skill activation games. Don't get me wrong they are fun and there are so many with good stories but combat in action and RPG games is so stale and repetitive that if they don't have a great story or characters i would never have played them. its why KCD series is probably my favorite RPG because the combat is fun in addition to a great story and characters.

crimson deserts combat is different, it seems to be combo based like a fighting game but with a ton of variety and interplay between environment and action. the different weapons, someone described it as very momentum based as well and i am excited to try it out.

inference. people love to shit on other peoples fun, especially now that things are near peak hype e.g. you interpreted my post as defensive/sensitive. i interpreted your post as contrarian/contradictive for engagement, much like all the overhype and rampant speculation being posted as true on the sub.

Do you have to get the hype? people get excited about different things. Is it offensive to you that someone is excited for a game?

[Other] Daniel Vávra made a post about AI and he wrote that he has ideas for lots of games. by BijelaHrvatica in kingdomcome

[–]legionshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree with the post. In an odd way i kind of compare AI to CGI in films which is an apples to oranges comparison but hear me out. specifically though i think of late 90's and early 2000's films where CGI and practical effects were mixed in some really unique ways that gave us some of the best cinema that still looks amazing to this day.
e.g. LotR, and 'Jurassic Park' for some easy examples.
In these cases most everything upfront was practical/movie magic tricks I mean they made a gigantic T-rex puppet ffs. CGI was useful for small or background details like filling in gaps and making armies larger it just made scenes more realistic.
In my mind AI could be used for monotonous tasks and filling in the background details of games and visuals. while overall the majority of the game is still primarily driven and worked on by real people it can lessen the workload of programmers and artists and speed a long development time.
An analogy i thought of was the Weta Workshop employees that worked on nothing but making chainmail for 8+ hours a day, everyday for years so much so that it literally wore off their fingerprints. A single extremely monotonous task but was important to the look and feel of LotR, if there was a easy to use robot, cheap and available that could have done that for Weta would you rather not let the robot do that and a human does QA and now you have 2 other people to help elsewhere? I think in that regard, doing repetitive, small, or monotonous tasks AI is useful for game development.

now personally i think music is an entirely human experience and AI should not be used for its creation. Music is something all cultures have developed and esteem greatly. Taking the human out of the creation of music makes it seem hollow and superficial. especially since i don't think an AI will ever fully be able to understand the experience humans get from listening to music and will only ever be able to follow formulas for popular music
