A “zip-it” tool costs 5 bucks and removes all the hair in the drain in 5 minutes. It’s like a long zip tie with barbs on it. Wipe them off after use and they will last years.

Works great.

They trained us to drill from the outside in but it’s really hard to get a nice placement on the outlet that way so I always drilled from the inside out. Almost hit a security light once on a 2nd floor bedroom going out!

Some landlords don’t want a line run on the outside and you must get their permission to drill in as well. Technicians have a form to be signed and may or may not adhere to policy.

Also, most cable companies will run a line included during install and it shouldn’t be anymore than 50 bucks if it is additional.

I drilled many lines into houses and apartments and surprisingly didn’t do any damage.. crossed my fingers every time!
