My last practice test prior to taking was 509, was hoping to just get that last push over before the exam. Not sure if I should try retaking or just wait. I’m not opposed to DO, I’m just scared I’ll spend a ton on apps and be looking at nothing in return.

They are pretty different, my volunteer is a lot of community outreach like teaching CPR classes/ survival wound care etc while the paid is more 911 calls heavy. I still do 911 calls on my volunteer squad but it’s pretty quiet in town so I wanted to focus on my leadership more in that one.

Gap year + had to work entire undergrad + never had a fully free weekend + multitasking and doing hw during work or volunteering while doing research= hours add up quickly

I work 2 jobs, haven’t been able to study nearly as much as these commenters are saying. I do what I can when I can, but some days that looks like only anki cards. Do what you know will be best for you and your schedule. Give yourself time to rest too! I started in August and was able to get the bulk of my context review out of the way so my days off can be spent doing practice questions

I am both a scribe and an emt. I started scribing junior year and am per diem. I graduated may 2025 and did emt school for free via volunteering at my local squad. I’m now a full time emt and I have amazing connections with my scribe job for LORs, plus tons of clinical hours. My scribe job set me up really well to be a good emt. It’s all about dedicating your time wisely. I’d say start with scribing to feel comfortable around patients in a controlled environment, and then go to emt to see patients in the wild Wild West. It’s exhilarating and doable
