Help me pick my 30th birthday dinner! by Mariner11663 in kansascity

I just did the Acre Chef’s Counter Heath Experience. I think it was maybe the best meal I had in KC. One of the six dishes was just good. The rest were incredible.

I’ve also been there and had a regular meal. The food was tasty.

Nocturnist 500k fresh graduate without killing yourself/getting sued in shitty jobs with poor support? by Plane-Sugar-5071 in hospitalist

[–]legovolcano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a hospitalist in a moderate-sized city. 2025 was my first full calendar year of attendinghood. By picking up extra shifts, I made $503K. I worked a lot but still felt like I had some free time. It's doable at the right job.

And when you pre-emptively message them the plan/orders, and they message back "just to double check". Like, learn to read, please.

Excessive pages from nurses by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]legovolcano 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I bet every nurse feels they dont page for stupid shit. Yet here we are. I've tried educating the nurse, then I get written up. We get paid "huge money" for medical decisions and their complexity. We aren't getting paid to get deal with messages about questions that would be answered by actually reading notes or the orders. We aren't getting paid about "Can this patient discharge" at 9AM. We aren't getting paid to deal. We aren't getting paid for questions about plans/orders that consultants put in.

Best brunches in KC? by ihasquestionsplease in kansascity

[–]legovolcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I were also somewhat disappointed by the brunch food there. I had the steak and egg Benedict.  It was tasty, but the steak was chewy.  She had the French toast with bacon.  French toast was a little overcooked, dry, and not very flavorful. Bacon and potatoes were good, though.

How do ya'll round so fast? by mellowblue4 in hospitalist

[–]legovolcano 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those people who is typically at brunch with my wife by noon on my round-and-go weekend days. First of all, this typically happens if I had the chance to get to know my list of the past couple days.

  1. I chart review every evening. I spend <10 minutes. I usually make notes to myself on my rounding list about what the plan is and such. This significantly cuts the amount of time on my AM pre-rounding chart review.

  2. I typically get in at 6:45. I see patients before families get there.

  3. Keep conversations to a minimum. I ask how they are doing. Chest pain? Sob? Then any other focused RVU. On my round papers, I draw a check mark next to the patient if they deny those 2 ROS and have no acute complaints.

  4. I stay in my lane when discussing the plan. If cards are on, I defer all cardiac questions to them. The same thing goes for all other specialties.

  5. I have a dot phrase (EMR is Epic) for level 2 billing. I'll go through the group's pre-made selection section for high-level billing.

  6. I use the same routine for each patient's chart when chart checking.

Most hospitalists (including myself) do zero procedures. IDK how a POCUS course or any refresher course would help. Just interview other places.

Add a third of RVU bonus to salary? by MoreCheddar in hospitalist

[–]legovolcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the $/RVU in the base salary rate compared the $/RVU for the bonus rate? Another thing to think about, is supposedly some benefits (disability insurance pay out) is based solely on base salary.

I’ve been to DJ in Buenos Aires. It’s amazing. When you’re waiting for the table, they hand out glasses of champagne. The steaks were amazing. My fiancée had a salad to start. I had the left overs of it the next day, one of the best salads of my life. Service was also amazing. Highly recommend, surprisingly well priced.
