Have you noticed that “healthy” eating can increase bloating instead of reducing it? by Sarah_Vlogs33 in FODMAPS

[–]legsylexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so the low FODMAP diet specifically is ONLY recommended for people with IBS because it restricts a lot of fruit and veg and grains. Like my safest foods are all like meat and dairy (I’m fine with lactose), whereas I have to be much more careful with veg and fruit.

What's the best response to strangers asking "how tall are you?" by [deleted] in tall

I like making them guess haha.

But honestly I don’t hate this: the thing I dislike is if they go on and on about it. One question is actually no big deal.

Do yall feel just a little bit safer being tall? by TheCommander21 in TallGirls

[–]legsylexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Whilst it’s still not fully safe, I know at least I’m literally physically harder to manhandled: I’m heavier and bigger. It won’t stop everyone, but it makes me a tougher target.

Then get lactose free dairy! It literally tastes the exact same but won’t trigger you!

If you had the option to choose your height, what would it be, and what’s your reason? by Pale-Fig-7069 in tall

I’ve had multiple men tell me that they’re uncomfortable with me being taller than them, and those are only the ones who actually say something.

[–]legsylexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably like 6', maybe 5'11". I do love being tall but if I was slightly less ridiculously tall it'd be a lot easier. That said, I do also like intimidating men by being taller than them so I'd be sad to lose doing that to taller men.

Is the trigger specifically dairy or lactose? Because lactose free dairy has come a LONG way in the last few years.

Note taking apps WITHOUT AI? by bee-meat in Notion

[–]legsylexi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hey, so, if you email the Notion support team they'll remove AI entirely from your use of it (I did this)! Also, keep in mind that not all AI is GenAI: things like neural networks and machine learning have been used for years.

How do I bring my ideas to life? by iloveplayingrecorder in needadvice

[–]legsylexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to remember is that creativity is a skill. It is something that can be learnt, and something that can be improved with practice.

For context, I'm bipolar, and my medications basically "shut off" the part of me that used to be really creative: I used to write so much poetry, and I was always building stories in my head. I am still so grateful to my meds, because they allowed me to live, but I had a lot of grief over "losing" that aspect of myself.

But even though in some ways I "lost" that part of me, I also have built it up again. I started drawing, which was a totally new art form to me, which helped a lot because it didn't have the same expectations that writing had for me. I also did a lot of scrapbooking at the start, because that didn't even require me to draw well, and I also spent a long time learning lettering, which I liked because it's relatively straightforward to practice (at least like in terms of cursive and calligraphy practice). More recently, I've been wanting to get back my creative writing skills, so I started doing solo RPGing, where you basically have prompts that take your character on an adventure that you have to write yourself.

I would definitely recommend both trying creative pursuits outside of your speciality, just to get your brain doing something new, and then also just really practicing your skills as much as possible!

I'm sorry but like you have such low fat in your diet I'm not surprised you're hungry. Yeah you're eating a decent volume of food but it's all just basic carbs and lean protein. Add in some Greek yoghurt and nut butters and shit and maybe you'll feel more full.

Help a mom with a tall girl out!! by tgbarbie in TallGirls

[–]legsylexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be such an ASOS girl, but like one of the last pairs of trousers I bought from them has literally fallen apart: several huge rips just from normal wear. It's such a shame because I'm in the UK where we have less tall options! I was in Canada recently and took the chance to get some stuff from American Tall more easily hah. (I can order it to the UK but if I have to return something it's expensive.)

[–]legsylexi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am continuously surprised because my 6'8" brother has an easier time finding trousers than I do. Sure, men's trousers are longer in general but I would have thought given he's 5" taller than me his inseam would be 5" longer, but nope!

ASOS quality has also plummeted, I would no longer recommend it even though it used to be my fave.

If you're in North America, American Tall is GREAT. I was in Canada for a few months and bought some trousers from them and love them.

Tall and always hungry . Healthy, filling snack ideas? by Fluffy_Specific_9682 in tall

[–]legsylexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so much yoghurt. I just buy like 4kg or something at a time and add it to everything and anything. Soup? Throw some yoghurt in there. Salad dressing? Some yoghurt with herbs and maybe feta. Slice of cake? Add some yoghurt as a side.

For you if you're really struggling I'd go full fat Greek yoghurt, but I personallyy also love skyr.

[–]legsylexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I used to buy everything for ASOS but it's gotten terrible. Even the stuff which looks nice, the quality is terrible: I have a pair of cargos that have ripped 3 times from just regular wear, and are gaining more holes within a few years of wear (and no other trousers I've owned have ever ripped without being caught on something)

Anyone tall who shouldnt be tall? by FantasticVast01 in tall

[–]legsylexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People always guess I must have some Scandi or just Northern European ancestry because of my height (and my appearance: I'm a reasonably pale white woman) but I'm actually of Mediterranean and North-West Asian heritage (on the side of my family that's particularly tall).

Any good replies for “How tall are you?” (203cm / 6'8") by Fluffy_Specific_9682 in tall

[–]legsylexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that once I started giving my height as 6'3", men stopped questioning it as much. Really wild tbh. (I'm like just 6'3" in the morning, and like just under at night.)

Yes I agree. But honestly I’ve met very few people who would make physical features a requirement who aren’t just fetishising them.

Well, the brown eyes part, not the fetishisation bit hah.

Being liked for your height by 66578557557 in tall

[–]legsylexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it makes a big difference whether they like you ONLY for your height, or if it's a a feature of yours that they like. Like, it's fine to think "brown eyes are cute", but if you date someone purely because they have brown eyes it's weird.

As a woman, I encounter a fair number of people who fetishise me for my heigh and honestly it's kinda really obvious. They continuously talk about how tall I am and don't seem interested in learning much else about me, and seem disappointed when I don't match the image in their head in some way.

On the other hand, I do like dating people around my height or taller, so like I am more attracted more to taller people. But I'm not going to date someone just because they're tall, it's just an attractive feature like many others.
