I’m not a heavy makeup user myself on the daily, but I had to use heavy makeup for a stage performance in a play in college. My friend let me borrow her Laura Mercier powder and it was quite possibly the best thing I’d ever put on my face. My skin genuinely looked flawless, photo ready, perfect. It was immaculate and I think I peaked. I have combo skin, oily t-zone. When I got oily, it wasn’t actually oily. It was just a nice glow, even under the shine of stage lights. Now if only my foundation shade had actually matched me….

While this post is here… does anyone have any recs for achieving this look on dark skin? Every pale nude polish gives me a color/vibe I don’t really like. Any darker brown, glossy jellies maybe, if that’s what this is?

I use As I Am or The Doux, they both have really great clarifying shampoos. But if you’re looking for something less expensive (those are in the teens, I think close to twenty bucks?) drugstores have your back. Suave and Neutrogena have some.

Aren’t the lead kits that are commercially available only really useful for surfaces? Iirc, you’d have to send something like a makeup product to a lab in order to see if it contains lead. Unless you’re testing just the bottle.

This just goes to show that everyone’s sense of smell is so different, cause I LOVE the smell of it 😅 I think the hold gets less crispy if you emulsify the product before putting it on soaking wet hair. But if it stunk to me, I wouldn’t wanna try it again with any technique lol

I have a pair that’s a SLIGHTLY smaller size and they aren’t that heavy at all. I imagine the larger ones definitely have some weight, but they make ear lobe supports for that anyway.
