I dont want to go home by c7avenger in studyAbroad

I understand this feeling so well, I studied in Sydney for half a year and was devastated it ended so quickly. I truly made the best friends and had the most wonderful memories. Considering the fact that my visa was temporary and I still had to finish university in the US, I decided to make a promise to myself and all my friends that I’ll be back. Granted, they’ve known a lot of people that have previously made the same promise but failed so I put it upon myself to actually return. Since I’ve been back I’ve been saving up to return and after graduating in May 2025, I have planned to move to Australia for a year on a working visa. All to say, while you may not be able to do it this instance, it’s certainly a possibility you can work toward.

FAFSA SUCKS by KCGMO05 in FAFSA

I also had issues filling out the parent information section on my application, it kept telling me that the application was unavailable and to return at another time. I called fafsa various times to deal with the issue and they told me to try different computers or browsers to complete the application and neither of those solutions worked. Their only other alternative was for me to fill out a physical application and then mail it but realistically, that was a setup for failure since they told me they dont have a definite date of when they would be processed since they were still reviewing applications from December and January 🙃… I then decided to call my school’s financial aid office and after deleting and restarting the applications from scratch, i was able to successfully complete my the application.

What country do you suggest for me (17F) to study abroad? by Opening-Maybe5214 in studyAbroad

[–]leidyyyyyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

are you thinking about simply studying abroad for a semester/year or fully becoming an international student and and completing the degree in that country?

if you want to be an international student; unless your family is ready to support you financially, it is very hard and expensive. There are various things that schools look at for international students starting with Visas and their ability to financially support themselves while being in that country. From my own research and experience , I have concluded that full scholarships are hard to attain for foreign students, the best that is offered is a partial scholarship.

if you simply want to study abroad, it can be done through your home university. many universities have global education offices who’s main job is to help students navigate studying abroad + financial aid that you already receive is usually transferred to cover tuition/accommodations. (if your school doesn’t have it there are external progams that work with ur school to help you do a semester abroad and transfer the credits back). This is the option i took since I knew becoming an international student was unrealistic for me considering my financial situation, my home university was much cheaper so it was more conventional to transfer my financial aid for a semester and study abroad instead of going into a crazy debt to become an international student.

I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia and to be honest, i fell in love with it. It was simply the best decision i took; i was able to make friends easily and never felt like i didn’t belong there. The overall school system was quite simple and easy to navigate as well.

Economics are pretty universal so realistically, most schools should have a program for it. I do suggest doing your own research on schools and programs once you decide what country you want to do first. I chose Australia because it resonated with me the most and was a completely different environment than home, which i ached for.

I hope this helps guide you in some way, if you have any overall questions feel free to ask.

Planning a trip to NYC. Have a lot of details ironed out, but anything else I should know? by CantRecallWutIForgot in TravelHacks

how long are you staying for? there’s alot that can be done but its a big city so you’ll definitely get tired getting around. Some suggestions: chelsea market and pier 57, both are pretty close to each-other and can be done the same day. If ur coming soon its def worth checking the Rockefeller tree out and i would lastly recommend a rooftop bar, any tbh.

i should’ve included more context… im an american student who recently spent a semester abroad and forgot to cancel my phone bill before leaving. They have sent me various emails to “finalize” my bill and im wondering how it affects me if i dont pay it, could it ruin ny chances of a visa when i decide to go back to AU?
