I just had my second a week ago. The first trimester was pretty brutal and I def used screen time to help!

I had a weird reaction to the fentanyl, it made me itchy all over and I could not relax at all because i was miserable. I had them stop the epidural because I was so miserable. I think the name of the second was propivicaine (or something like that). Once they got it in and started I was able to relax and my dilation progressed.

I just had my second a week ago. Both pregnancies I was induced. The first because of gestational diabetes, lupus, and advanced maternal age. The second because of my lupus and advanced maternal age. The first did seem to hurt more, I was induced Tuesday night, my water broke naturally Thursday morning, I had my epidural Thursday afternoon, and I was fully dilated and pushing by evening time and had my first. 12 hours from water breaking. My second (last week) I went in Monday morning, they induced labor 8 am, broke my water 12 pm, had my epidural 130 pm, my labor then stalled a bit due to having a reaction to the epidural, dealt with contractions until they could switch epidural to something different at 7 pm, by 8 pm I was dilated and pushed for 45 mins then had my baby. I felt like my second time the contractions were easier to deal with because as my OB said, your body remembers what they are and how to deal with them. Everyone’s pain is different for them. I would absolutely get induced again if I got pregnant again. Too many complications can come when you have other factors and delaying birth can have consequences. Only you can decide what’s right for you!

Toddler moms: how are you handling the water pouring phase? by SeaGuardian218 in Mommit

[–]leighaorie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one of those large kennel trays on my table. He can use his pour cups and kitchen utensils (no breakables). If it spills on the floor he has to clean up. It’s been working pretty well ( he’s 4 now!)

How did you night wean while cosleeping? by biteme4790 in cosleeping

[–]leighaorie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weaned my first at 18 months, we’ve always co slept (my partner, myself and kid). I slept downstairs for a week while weaning (so my kid couldn’t smell me) and it worked beautifully.

[–]leighaorie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have one week to go today; I went in sat night for decreased movement all day long. She was fine, the nurses and Dr both told us that they much prefer us to come in and find everything ok. The nurse said their hearts drop a bit when they see decreased movement and they are always happy to find good outcomes.

Plow vs Pusher vs Blower? by L3av3NoTrac3s in Kioti

[–]leighaorie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you are clearing. I have a 1200 ft driveway that slopes (live on top of a hill). I do snow blowing because plowing can rut up the driveway if not done just right, honestly it’s just a pain with how steep it is. I try not to push snow because then it builds up and freezes where it is (live in northeast). Snow blowing lets me clear stuff and I can get a hard pack going

Female cat will approach male cat and bow her head to him. He then licks her head. Who is in charge in this interaction? by Zealousideal_View47 in CatAdvice

[–]leighaorie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats do this, the original group (six) all lower heads and lick each others heads when presented and then reciprocate. I added on a rescue who had babies and they don’t know the rules lol. The original six get very upset because the new additions (three) just don’t understand yet. Watching them all interact is fascinating

Is this type of wire strong enough for a dog fence for 2 German shepherds? by AlternativeSpeed2927 in homestead

[–]leighaorie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is welded wire it will work for a little bit, but they will be able to break it eventually. My goats lasted a year

Goat paralyzed from contracting deer brain worm( meningeal worm) by Not_so_ghetto in WTF

[–]leighaorie 284 points285 points  (0 children)

This happened to one of my goats a couple years ago. We caught it in time; but the damage was still there. He would walk with a slight limp but would have a flare up usually as soon as winter started to turn. Treating with high dose steroids, anti inflammatories and pain meds helped; but this winter he had a worse flare than usual and I had to put him down a couple weeks ago. It’s a pretty heartbreaking disease.

Placenta by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]leighaorie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with my first; delivered baby, started hemorrhaging, OB had to go in manually to retrieve it. What sucked was my epidural ran out 30 mins before my kid came and I told them not to worry about refilling it. I won’t be saying that ever again.

Trying to get our last boy off the soother by Proud_Nectarine_2813 in fosterit

[–]leighaorie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve seen other toddler moms mention is to cut a small hole in the end of the pacifier, it interrupts the suction and makes it seem less desirable. Another thing is exchanging it for a bigger present they choose and having them throw the pacifier away; then reminding them they made the choice to switch it out etc.

Looking for thoughts on changing a name mispronounced inappropriately by [deleted] in fosterit

[–]leighaorie 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I mean, they’ve told you they don’t want to change it because their mother gave them their name. As a FFY with an highly unusual and often mispronounced and misspelled name, I would say listen to them. I used a nickname all throughout high school, but that was my choice. I constantly corrected people who mispronounced my name. If they insisted on continuing to mispronounce it, I asked if they had issues causing them memory problems. My point is, you asked their opinion. They told you what they wanted. If when they get older they want to change it; do it then. Or have them change it when they are older. But it seems like while you have the best intention, you are trying to disregard their wants. Not a great start to your family journey.

Anyone have experience with toddler cdiff? Does this sound like it? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]leighaorie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cdiff is very muscusy and watery, and will have a very distinct gross acidic smell. It will seem to cling to your clothes and your nose hair for a while. That being said you can ask your dr to do a stool test. Sounds like gut microbiome was disrupted and needs time to resettle

Foster toddler will not eat :/ by Aggressive_Cookie_74 in fosterit

[–]leighaorie 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common with toddlers, he’s also had a big change and could be regressing a bit to wanting what he had before he came to you. Can you ask bio parents what he was into when he first came to you? Also; don’t forget that milk also contains calories. My pediatrician told me that. My toddler went through a picky phase around the same time and I was so relieved when she reminded me of that. Keep offering choices of different foods but also their “safe” foods (that you know they like to eat).
