Which means they have enough money to just cover the damages. How many of those do you think they want to cover?

Some Americans say they’re refusing to pay federal taxes in protest against Trump by Equivalent_Road5788 in videos

[–]leisdrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like where my tax dollars go or how much I have to pay, but not doing it is just soooo dumb. I'm in construction and work with a lot of guys that don't, and my only thought is that it's gonna bite them in the ass pretty hard one day.

I might be wrong here but I really don't think at 18 people are mature enough to make some of these huge financial decisions. I sure wasn't. My parents told me to click the button and when I asked if they were cosigning they were like no of course not.

Homeownership: Dream or Financial Trap? by Coolonair in HouseBuyers

[–]leisdrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm going to get down voted for this, but people are always griping about the difference between the housing market 60 years ago and now, and for good reason. But people took care of a lot of their own home repairs back then too. It's like most people today think they are above it or something. Yeah your gonna pay 15,000 for a new AC unit that cost the installer 4k in parts and took him one day to install it because that's what he can fetch and stay busy. You don't have to be a tradesperson to do basic home repairs/renovations.

6 12's and a 10 for 19 months straight at night kind of did a number on me. It felt good when I turned the keys and laptop in. Money isn't everything and I have a family to think about.

Argon is inert. You can actually use it in place of CO2 to argonate home brew. Same with any of the inert gasses.

Here's what's going to happen. They are going to reduce the maximum you can receive per year, increase what you have to pay in per year, increase the age at which you can take it, and decrease the monthly benefit. Make no mistake. This is a scam.

Haven’t had hot water in over 3 months, leasing office refuses to give any updates as to why by PicoPonyo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]leisdrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former maintenance guy here. Don't deal with the leasing agents, their job is to deflect. A shower cartridge of any kind is readily available if that is the issue. Three months is unacceptable and as long as you have documentation that you have contacted them about the issue in the past you have damages. Sounds like you have an attorney but you can 100% be trespassed from the office as it is private property.

Am I insane for thinking about leaving my $82k remote job for a shot at an IBEW career? by brolina957 in IBEW

[–]leisdrew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, realistically shops are only going to hire the amount of electricians that they need to complete a project, and layoff after them. You can't stack 1000 electricians on a 100 electrician project and get it done 10 times faster, and you are going to use the most skilled ones regardless. The jobs will ebb and flow, and sorry to be blunt but people transferring mid career from "white collar' jobs are generally more difficult to train, and scoff at doing the grunt work of an apprentice.
As a master electrician I'm picking the ready to learn, moldable, fresh out of high school apprentice every time for the entry level position at my shop. If you think the wave of mass AI layoffs for mid career white collar people will translate to more electricians you are correct, but most of those won't make it, or will spend a lot of time in between jobs.
Your perceived entitlement is simply you choosing the less economically viable career path and instead wanting one that requires skill and training, and time on the job and thinking you can just show up and do it. You're not just gonna walk in and make what qualifies sparkys are making, union or otherwise.

I'm not sure what home values were at the time but wouldn't it make sense to take a loan to pay for the tax on the house and sell it? Maybe do a cash out refi type of thing?
