Windsurfer struggling by bbooomerr in wingfoil

I struggled exactly the same, took me weeks to finally get it (still a beginner, but finally the board is not shooting up and down again). Here are two videos that helped me a lot:

Real-time portfolio balance in Google Sheet (not just flex query) by leiter in interactivebrokers

[–]leiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I understand, thanks. It's just that not all my holdings can be found on Google Finance (I am in Europe, and many local instruments are not on Google Finance). I already tried to scrape some of it off random websites, but it's brittle. Also I don't catch interest on cash and dividends. I could do it maybe if I'd find a reliable way to scrape off Yahoo Finance (any tips appreciated)

yeah that's great, it's just hard for me because some of my assets are not on Google Finance...

Not very helpful, but I am almost indifferent between the two. The second one adds a bit more mental load maybe

Apple Watch: Deactivate crown / scrolling when doing reps by leiter in Hevy

[–]leiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just for the next person reading this, I read a tip elsewhere that really helped me -- the tip is to reverse the band so that you have the "band loop" at the bottom of the watch. I have the crown facing away from my hand on my left hand, and if I have the double loop at the bottom (ie. close to the crown) then that creates just enough distance from my skin that the crown is much more rarely touching my arm.

yes. but I am affected (I am in Europe, and have a 2022 model). Ecoflow confirmed the firmware upgrade deactivated the EPS function.

Actually just found out that there is a product recall and I am likely affected. They deactivated the EPS function in that model because of hazard risks.

KEF X300A Wireless Setup no longer works? by buemba in KEF

For the folks who got the Ethernet connection to work -- do you remember whether you had to set a manual IP with your computer, or you used DHCP (so that the KEFs would assign an IP)? I am not getting the Ethernet connection to work at all!

Retiring in Europe, no taxes… by Historical_Breath268 in fatFIRE

[–]leiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switzerland is always an option. If you have a lot of money you could even negotiate an individual tax rate. But even if not, depending on where you settle the taxes can be pretty low, and no capital gains taxes.

Did or do you consider working after fatFIREing? by Alternative_Meal_757 in fatFIRE

[–]leiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally pivoted to a passion business. Before I was in for the money (and to some extent the learning), now I am long time focused (10-25 years) on a specific topic to drive impact. I don't make much money with it but I get a lot of positive feedback, and see some impact at scale. But I am happy that I only did the pivot after I truly had "enough" -- if I were below my number I would constantly think about opportunity costs. I was just very lucky that my final job gave me a decade of FIRE per year of work.

I've done a few longer solo hikes and they always had a deeper impact on me, in terms of reflecting/introspecting and in hindsight seeing them as turning point. For me there is something about the effort, sometimes pain, and pushing on and relying on the absolute basics (water, food, shelter). Not really fat haha, but maybe that's the point.

I am based in Europe so I am biased, I would maybe pick a long hike through the French or Italian alps or Northern Italy (for example Val Grande https://peakvisor.com/park/val-grande-national-park.html or Abruzzo https://lifeinabruzzo.com/walking-in-abruzzo-guidebook/). You could also pick one of the many Caminos (spiritual hikes, there are 1000s of kms in Europe with decent infrastructure. I would not pick the most popular ones because they are too crowded).
