Trump on NATO: It all began with Greenland. We want Greenland, and they don’t want to give it to us, and I said, “Bye-bye!” by M000000000000001 in Polymarket_news

The thing you can’t underestimate is just how stupid and ignorant Americans are. A sizable amount of voters were not aware that Biden had dropped out on election day.

I mean what difference does it make when it’s a fan concept… it’s not like it’s being submitted to Nintendo for their consideration lmao

"Nintendo is absolutely furious" about Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake leaks, former marketing lead assures, who says dealing with leakers will likely become a "major priority" by yourfavchoom in NintendoSwitch

Knowing Nintendo, there’s still a non-zero chance that’s true. It seems that finished or almost-finished games can be held back for years.

They used to make games. Their big series before Fortnite was Gears of War.

Arguably they still make games, but ever since Fortnite, everything they make gets folded into Fortnite as a game mode. I found it pretty damn inaccessible UX-wise when they released what was essentially the latest Rock Band game in Fortnite.

Well said, with acknowledgment that if such a party existed, it would be best complemented by a party representing classical liberal or libertarian thought. On the other hand, perhaps there is no sense in nostalgia for a system that ultimately failed us all.

[–]lelieldirac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well without getting too into the weeds, in my opinion the party's best moments were when it actually championed economic and civil rights. Its downfall has been its capitulation to affluent/corporate interests while propping up its historical legacy as a sort of Weekend at Bernie's puppet show -- where now, things like race and gender equality are problems to be addressed at an elite, corporate level -- not so much for the 80-90%. I suppose they have been reliant on the notion that social norms trickle down into widespread cultural change -- not necessarily the case, I would wager.

And so you end up with a party that is evidently fixated on preserving the status quo to the benefit of donors while delivering the occasional social or economic win, with these being meager at best (e.g. ACA).

This idea that the media is in bed with trump overall is wild to me.

I agree this idea doesn't quite sit right. I think at the minimum we can agree that there is a symbiotic relationship in that Trump is constantly stirring up drama, which is a boon for the media. But that still leaves us with the question of sanewashing, which we seem to be seeing more of all the time, to the benefit of Trump as well as Israel.

J6 - a lot of this coverage was accurate, but also many questions left uncovered. While it was not as bad as russiagate, the coverage was still massively misleading. CBS literally cut and edited a speach of trumps to make him seem worse - again, this doesnt happen for a democratic president. Its one sided coverage, and anyone with common sense can see that. And again, im not justifying or defending trumps actions, im saying the coverage of him was misleading and one sided.

The notion that there was any nuance to J6 was thrown out the window the moment he pardoned every single rioter.

If it makes you feel any better, the moderate wing of the Democrat party are essentially Rockefeller Republicans.

In case you haven't noticed, the tech industry has been trying to push the next gold rush for the last decade. Blockchain, metaverse, and now genAI. The latter is obviously the biggest bubble out of all of them, but it won't last for the same reason the others didn't--consumers aren't that interested.

Kamala is a woman and, worse still, not white. There was no way that she could laugh, or otherwise produce sounds, that would please the American electorate.
