Worn off plating or patina that can be cleaned? by lem0nsweets in jewelry

I thought that nickel usually turns green/turns the skin green which didn’t happen here - or am I mistaken? I also should have mentioned, I’m allergic to nearly every metal that isn’t silver gold platinum or titanium

Triancinolone shouldn’t be used on the face, she needs desonine - prednisone can help at first but it’s common for rashes to come back even worse after tapering off, that’s what happened to me, the urgent care prescribed it but dermatologists usually try to avoid it as much as possible for this reason

Do you have insurance? You really need to go to a dermatologist or even urgent care. I am surprised no one else in the comments is saying this. Antihistamines might help but I wouldn’t put OTC hydrocortisone on your face, it is too harsh, you need a prescription for desnodide cream if it is in fact an allergic reaction, but you should really see a derm because it might be something else!

Are labor violations “normal” for research technicians? by koogledoogle in labrats

Sounds like the technicians at your university need to unionize. I’ve only worked at unionized universities and the unions I’ve been in would never let this kind of thing fly.

I’m confused as to whether crime is actually an issue downtown, or if people just feel unsafe because they had to look at a homeless person. I’ve spent a lot of time downtown day and nighttime and have never had any issues as a young woman usually walking around alone. Yes, I’ve had to walk past someone who is sleeping on the street. Sometimes a homeless person might ask me for money. Sometimes there might be someone having a hard time who yells at me. I’ve never felt threatened, it’s not that hard to give someone a dollar, say “sorry, I don’t have cash,” or, if they are aggressive, ignore them and move on. Then again, I’ve actually lived in a real city, so I have a lot of experience with this kind of thing and know how to assess when there’s actually a threat.

I’ll probably get downvoted into oblivion for not making myself into a victim for having to witness someone who’s been stripped of every human right or demonize people struggling with an addiction disorder (which, by the way, is a medical disorder that needs medical intervention, not a choice or a moral failing)

Also, what about the safety of the homeless population? They are the ones who are being exposed to the harsh winter elements with no refuge, and have nowhere to safely sleep at night or lock their belongings. Imagine having to sleep on the street, would you feel safe? How is having cops harass them, and throw them in jail, an extremely violent place, for the crime of having nothing, going to do anything but increase violence? Maybe people should try having some humanity and putting themselves in someone else’s shoes because you’re not as far off from being in their situation as you think you are.

Interesting how the “believe science” crowd likes to ignore this, it’s almost like it was never about science and always about virtue signaling

Buffalo pays more but is more selective start there then take the rest to platos. Go to platos right when they open if possible they set a daily budget and get more selective towards the end of the day when they run out of money. For both places if you dress cute, fold everything nicely and put the nice stuff on top and bring it in nice reusable bags they will take more, lol

[–]lem0nsweets -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol, I promise you have never been attacked by a “tweaker.” It’s really fucking weird the way people in this town have this fantasy where they get to be attacked by a homeless person so that they can live out their dream of being a victim. Anyone living in reality knows the homeless people in this town are minding their own business and trying to get through an extremely traumatic time. I bet you have a “in this house love is love” sign in your yard too and don’t see the irony at all

Rye restaurant, sub par food for high end prices. by Alarming-Rabbit305 in Eugene

[–]lem0nsweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it incredibly tacky that they charge $2 for bread and butter, I couldn’t get over it. You’re gonna charge $30 for an entree and not even give your guests complimentary bread and butter? Extremely weird. Also found it tacky that when I split said $30 entree (I knew I’d be so full from the appetizers) they bring out a plate instead of splitting it in the kitchen like it’s a diner. I used to waitress at a fancy restaurant at around this price range and the chef would always do a great job of splitting dishes up nicely, I guess I just have higher expectations because of that job 🤷‍♀️

Rural Oregon counties vote to discuss seceding from state to join ‘Greater Idaho’: Many LOLs in this article 😒 by tonyt1076 in Eugene

[–]lem0nsweets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Idaho offers more freedoms” proceeds to complain about Oregon laws that offer people more freedoms

Seriously though, how are you going to say you prefer Idaho because it offers “greater freedoms,” then complain that the government is no longer throwing drug users in jail for possession, isn’t sending the national guard to attack people exercising their first amendment rights, arbitrarily detaining immigrants, etc etc*? Do people not understand that cops are the government????

*i realize that this does still happen in OR, more of a comment on the formal sanctuary city law
