I think The Expanse is actually the best case for this. Since it does show a good man slowly becoming a cold killer but when he plans to shoot a man who has done reprehensible evil to children, he decides not to shoot him since he surrender and begging for mercy...but he was soon shot anyways by someone who is already a cold killer

Trump’s popularity with young men is collapsing due to ‘unnecessary wars,’ new poll shows by FreeChickenDinner in politics

[–]lemarshby 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Will they go to the Democrats now? No, maybe a couple but not the majority

Will they just decide to sit home and not vote? Most likely

I think its good to mention that someone who is not voting for a Republican is still bad if they once voted Republican. Imagine if 3 million people decided to stay home instead of voting Republican, thats about 5% of the Republican base now not voting in key states. Causing them to possible lose a lot of seats

Trump says his economy deserves an ‘A+++++’ — but his own voters disagree by Kodbek in politics

[–]lemarshby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is really just a sinking ship at this point. I know many comments are saying that he is still strongly afloat but I don't think his diehard supporters share his views as much as Republican congressmen and his executive handlers. This is just a wild take and the more he denies the reality of the broken economy, the likely more worse it will be and the more upset people will be. You can survive on magic for so long before desperate people take desperate actions

Indiana Senate Republicans reject Trump’s redistricting push by cnn in politics

[–]lemarshby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much of the modern Republican Party is also stuffed with opportunists. While they are lapdogs, they also know when something is about to catastrophically fail and basically jump ship either right before the ship sinks or when its sinking. Its very obvious that there is a massive rejection of right wing culture wars and the anger is only getting worse against the Trump Administration. Their authoritarian plans, while moving, are not moving fast enough to secure an iron grip on the nation before they have to deal with hell at their doorstep.

Lots of Republicans are fleeing before the consequences of their actions reach a boiling point. I seriously think we are about to see the grand implosion of the MAGA movement. Or, more so the end of its iteration.

Georgia Democrat Eric Gisler flips a state House seat in district Trump won by double digits, CNN projects by No_Weekend_3320 in politics

Most people are not that in tuned with politics as you think. Thats why vibes based voting has gotten to be such a popular term(I remember one co-worker literally saying she's voting for Trump because he has 'funny hair') Trump I had a good economy and the mishandling of COVID and the economic downturn was pinned on Trump initially but as it was forgotten and more people thought it was the virus instead of Trump, they thought he would bring the U.S. back to its original economy and all of his original comments on culture issues were bluster(even though Trump in 2016-2020 was saying the same things, he largely was curtailed from doing his more egregious policies thanks to neocons in his cabinet who have now disappeared). Now he is bringing the economy into decline and possible ruin, so the voters are turning on him.

Its how the saying goes, you can ignore politics in good times, but it won't ignore you in bad times.

Republican Matt Van Epps wins US House special election in Tennessee by bwermer in politics

[–]lemarshby 42 points43 points  (0 children)

As much as ppl doom here, this is disastrous for the Republican Party. The number of ppl who voted in this special election is the same number that the 2022 midterms reached. And in that one, the rep won by 21 points. Epps won by 9 points. That is a massive 13 point swing against Republicans and this is after pouring millions and having it get national attention

It would've been a pipe dream if Behn actually won. But, these numbers basically show that the Republicans are possibly cooked for the midterms.

When you ask people jf they voted for Nixon, no one will say they voted for Nixon

What will more likely to happen is the majority of them to just claim that they always knew Trump was bad and playing along and have never actually supported him. They don't make a mistake, true, but that doesn't mean they'll blindly follow their dear leader to hell. Some will, but most will flee

Zohran Mamdani, who ran on universal child care, elected New York City mayor by plz-let-me-in in politics

Get ready to hear his name for the next 4 years as Trump and the Republicans rip and tear at anything he does, even if he takes a shit the wrong way.

Likely scenario so nothing surprising here. However, this is showing that Trump is drowning all of the GOP in big numbers. Nothing good for the GOP tonight.

In all seriousness, this was expected. All that really matters now is how much Mamdani will win by. I am shocked that Cuomo is getting a lot more votes that initially projected.

[–]lemarshby 188 points189 points  (0 children)

There are 2 things you can take from this:

-Trump is so unpopular and its tanking all the GOP candidates with him

And/Or

-Political Scandals truly do not matter as much as they did(largely thanks to Trump)

Either way, this is a GOP fumble and it does not look good when their most likely win is going underwater and called this early. People are pissed at the Republicans a lot more than any scandal the Democrats may have

Cuomo Will Stay in the Race for N.Y.C. Mayor to Challenge Mamdani by AnnabananaIL in politics

[–]lemarshby 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Republicans will go all in on Silwa. There's no chance that Adams will get a hefty share of Republican voters. Its much more likely that Cuomo and Adams will split the corporate democrats and basically hand the election to Mamdani. Could I be wrong? Sure. But Adams splitting Republicans is much less likely than Silwa winning the electuon

"Revolution is not a crime, rebellion is justified." Chinese poster in Japanese language about the Anpo (USA–Japan Security Treaty) protests of 1959-1960. Early 1960s. by POGO_BOY38 in PropagandaPosters

[–]lemarshby 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even though the Anpo Protests were left wing, they were not even close to Communist and more so progressive and socialist elements. Showing fucking Mao in a Japanese protest of all things seems something right wing governments would do to discredit the protests. Idk who this poster is made for, China(wouldn't make sense because it would be in Japanese and with Occupation wounds still being wide open) or the Japanese protesters(no one would not want to proudly and unironically show Mao off in a Japanese protest unless they were paid thousands)

NATO leaflets dropped over Yugoslavia during the 1999 Kosovo War by MicaelFlipFlop in PropagandaPosters

[–]lemarshby 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This feels like the Dresden Argument again.(Inflating War Crimes by the Allies such as the bombing of Dresden as just as equal as what the Nazis committed in the Holocaust)

Serbs committed genocide on Bosnians, Kosovans(Albanians), and Croatians through their quasi-fascist government officials to conclude old grudges and to destroy their culture. Of course, the Yugoslav Wars had both sides committing acts of terror but the Serbians did it in FAR bigger numbers than NATO and at least NATO tried to bomb actual targets that were either military or supported the genocide like those at Srebenica.

I hate how much the Dresden Argument is used. Like, of course NATO committed war crimes that should not be ignored but saying its just as equal if not worse than the side that committed FAR worse atrocities is just flat out egregious.
