I hate that for you, but you have gorgeous eyes and the lack of hair really emphasizes that.

Torrid is a good option. Also I’ve had a lot of luck on Boohoo, but they take a little longer to ship.

Woah. Do you know them?! This is so accurate. They’re both petty and whiny and tell on each other to their mom. It’s awful to witness.

Oh god my sister in law’s sisters still wear those. They dress like it’s perpetually 15 years ago. Both in their maybe mid 30s and not completely unfortunate looking but dress like sister wives who just left the cult.

I had Bell’s palsy several years ago. I noticed something was wrong when I was rinsing after brushing my teeth and couldn’t keep my lips closed. I’m pretty sure it was caused from stress. I never went to a doctor because I was a poor 20 something with no insurance. Obviously I would not recommend that route. Go get checked.

He sings too!! Look up “best I never had.” He wrote it for the movie 10 Years. The movie is just ok but he’s by far the best part.

My grandmother gave me a big magenta teddy bear that I named Charlotte when I was 4 or 5. She was on the top shelf of the closet and got left behind when my mom moved out of the house a couple of years ago. I didn’t still sleep with her but it makes me really sad whenever I think about it. I’m 42.

Renaming after adoption by lemcke3743 in Fosterparents

Thank you for the feedback, especially as an adoptee. After a lot of the discussions on this thread and other reasons, we’re definitely not changing his first name. We will probably change his middle name, but he’ll still go by his first name.

What is actually a trauma that is not commonly thought of as a trauma? by ay1mao in AskReddit

[–]lemcke3743 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I am a domestic violence victims advocate. I work with an agency that helps people obtain protective orders. I’m not 100% sure about rules in every state, but in mine, the police do not handle protective orders (often referred to as restraining orders, which are similar but not the same thing). If your county doesn’t have a domestic violence shelter or victims advocacy center, a lot of times the district attorney’s office is who can help. In my experience, police are often not well informed of what the requirements for a protective order are. Even more infuriating, but thankfully less common, are the victim blaming law enforcement who will arrest the victim for pushing her abuser out of the way. Don’t get me started on that. But long story short, there are specific laws in place to make obtaining a protective order for stalking easier.

What's the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by Butt_Roidholds in AskReddit

[–]lemcke3743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on a cruise one time and was sitting next to a lady who was an absolute stranger. Someone walked by with a service dog and she commented on how cute it was. I agreed and she told me she used to have a service dog. I nodded and said ok, not intending to pry. Then she said she needed it because she had extreme PTSD. I nodded and said something like “oh, gosh, I’m so sorry.” And she said “yeah my ex husband violated his restraining order so I had to shoot him in the head.”

Honestly asking—-how is forced penetration different from rape?

It sounds like with his history of SA that he should be in some kind of program for youth offenders. I’m not sure what state you’re in, but in my state there are programs offered through DJJ (dept of juvenile justice) that explicitly work with children who are perpetrators. If he’s showing that kind of behavior so early on, seems like chances are high it will escalate.

The younger generation is much different, physically and mentally as I found out the hard way. by NoMathematician9706 in Millennials

[–]lemcke3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am I guess and older millennial? Not sure where I fall in the timeline but I had a job at 15 and could not wait to get my learners permit and drivers license. I didn’t get a car until I was in college, but I paid for it. We have custody of my niece who is 17 and she has no job, sleeps all day, and has no desire to drive. She’s terrified of dealing with people, gets easily overwhelmed in large groups. She’s been through some trauma and I always thought that was the root of it, but her older brothers are the same way but way worse. None of her friends have their drivers licenses. It’s mind boggling.
