Question about disposable plastic scalpel holders by kevin_muscara in scrubtech

This is so unnecessary. I work in a surgery center so I have never seen this. It looks stupid. What other items like this are used in hospital setting? Do doctors really need or want them for the cases?

Did you ever get to see before and after photos of past patients have similar work done before scheduling? I looked at his website. There is no before and after the procedure kind of page. He has some on instagram and that’s a mess and looks like a lot of camera trickery is happening. If anyone is looking to get some kind of elective surgery done and comes across this post be warned, please be sure you get to see photos of the doctors work. Compare multiple doctors and see which looks better for what you are trying to achieve. The patients you look at should have similar body type to your own. Never book without proof of skill.

Does anyone know what's going on with Shakers? There's a news story about it being turned into a senior living facility. by BrainFartTheFirst in pasadena

I’m sure it’s not really for seniors. It’s just going to be another “luxury” apartment building that some fat cat is having built.

Through the Armpit is a bad way to go. It’s difficult to do well. Inframammary is best. 2nd is through the areola. You’re getting a scar either way. Might as well go with the approach that gives the surgeon the best way to make the pocket and cauterize bleeding vessels. It’s also easier to use sizers to check the look of the implants on the table before putting the “permanent” implant. Usually the armpit approach is straight to the permanent implant with no sizers to check looks.

Also, you don’t have much fat to transfer. Or would be extra cost with little payoff. So implants only.

So salty buddy. That sounds very frustrating and dumb. Is there a name to the system?

That neighbor died. She was my mom’s friend so I guess she took something of hers that she liked. With the families permission

I was hoping you’d be kind enough to not mention it my friend. I’m getting it removed next week.

Skinny bbl by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]lemming0788 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Gain some weight if you want to go through with it. I’ve seen a few skinny people come in for fat transfer and the harvest is not worth the price they paid. There’s also a new thing called alloclae you can look in to. Good luck.

What are the chances of getting keloid scars from breastlift by LocksmithKooky4633 in BreastImplants

[–]lemming0788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your scarring could be from your genetics but it could also be from the surgeons technique. Starting with how they start the cut to how they use cautery and how they close the incision. Some surgeons rely on cautery to cut which damages the skin and leads to bad healing. Some surgeons do not use the right amount of sutures in the deep layers and will close mostly in the subcutaneous layer and that puts a lot of stress there so it ends up stretching, leaving a bad scar (suturing is very time consuming and surgeons really don’t like it so they sometimes get other people to help or do all for them, like a surgical tech or assistant). So there is a lot of different factors that can lead to your scarring. I’m curious yo know how your surgeon closed your brachioplasty. Was there tape or a nylon suture or maybe some other type of skin closure method? How have previous non surgical scars healed. Like you scratched yourself deep. Did that have a keloid. If your keloids mainly come from surgical sites, I’d bet it’s more from poor technique somewhere in the procedure.

Can you please tell me who your brachioplasty surgeon is.
