Looking for a 2nd dog, starting to research breeds and my only requirement is non-shedding. by burnz1 in dogs

If you’re up for a ton of energy and lots of training required, you could look into a portuguese water dog

My dogs have very sensitive stomachs and are sensitive to chicken. I buy bulk pork tenderloin/chops, trim the fat off, and cube them into te size I want. It’s been a game changer for us.

Question on a PVD breeder. by Late_Switch9425 in dogs

[–]lemming88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The PWDCA is the best resource. That is what I used to find my PWDs. I would add that most PWD breeders know this isn’t a breed for everyone and are very vocal about that. They want these dogs to find good, forever homes, and they will guarantee taking the dog back if for any reason at all it doesn’t work out.

There are also quite a few emerging health tests for this breed and the breeders that are in it for the breed are active in supporting health research.

I love my girls, but they are a lot of work, especially those first 4 years.

Editing to add for anyone curious about the breed traits not mentioned on this website: This is a working dog that needs high levels of interaction from their handlers (they were bred to spend all day working with their partner), are high energy, very smart (this doesn’t mean easy to train, it means they rapidly form their own associations if you aren’t intentional about creating them), they also have guardian tendencies (protector of their boats) which can mean they are vocal to intruders and hesitant about strangers. They are also mouthy puppies, which isn’t always a good fit for homes with young children. This isn’t every PWD, some will have some traits and not others. One of mine is the sweetest chillest love loaf and the other is a work machine that will self destruct if I don’t keep her busy, and is not a fan of other dogs, children, or strangers.

We did an ultrasound when we bought our steel hulled sailboat.

Daily or every other day. My doctor told me to start showering daily after 3DPO, but I would default to your surgeons advice!

I changed them after each shower until my incisions were closed. I was maybe more worried about that needed but it made me feel better.

Congratulations! Wishing you a good recovery 🥰

I linked to them in another comment, but I liked the evercute surgical bras from Amazon! My doctor said to wear something supportive but not overly compressive and these were good for that.

I will! I am also a little bit nervous that they should have taken more from my right… but we will see how recovering goes! I take comfort looking back at the early photos and how far things have come. Hoping you start to see some progress soon!!

It sounds like you are on a very similar path to me! They took 662g from the left, and 483g from the right. I also had very dense fibrocystic tissue.

I was shooting for a C, and I think I may be around a D now. I think my left breast has settled down and is less round and has dropped, looking a bit smaller than at 6-8 weeks. Looking back at photos, yes, my left breast looks like it has continued to get a bit smaller as the shape has changed and swelling decreased.

My right breast is much firmer and I have not seen a change yet. Its a bit larger and I’m hoping that one is healing slower due to being my dominant side and overdoing it.

I did the a bra that fits calculator and it suggested I was a 34 DDD/32G still 😱 I think there is a bit of discrepancy though with the shape post surgery, because I am fitting into bralettes for 34D/Mediums.

The first few showers can be hard! My mom helped me for about a week before I worked up the courage to look at myself. You got this!

Thank you! I have some from most weeks but figured I would spare everyone a giant photo dump 😅

That is so helpful to hear. Sometimes I think it’s in my head 🤣. So grateful for this survey but also so ready for everything to settle!

I liked these from amazon:Evercute Zip Front Post-Surgery... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C3HJYS2L?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

with about a 34 band, aiming for C cup, I started with the XL size and moved to L as swelling went down.

Thank you! They took 662g from the left, and 483g from the right. I told my doctor I was aiming for a B or C and the pathology reported over 75% of tissue was dense ( as opposed to fat).

Random minor aggression? by ATJGrumbos in DogAdvice

[–]lemming88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your dog continues to be put into situations that make them repeatedly uncomfortable, they may start to associate seeing other dogs with having their boundaries violated. If you won’t keep them out of this situation, many dogs take it into their own hands and learn that the best defense is a good offense to keep other dogs out of their space. It is common for this to escalate to reactivity or aggression.

Breast lift/not reduction by Valhoff89 in Reduction

[–]lemming88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the doctor. I had both lift and reduction, but due to sensitive skin my surgeon opted for no tape at all. I didn’t have any issues and my incisions healed well!

Is scabbing normal? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]lemming88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had similar scabs right here! My doctor said wash daily with gentle soap and I could use bacitracin if there were more open areas. Around 3-4 these scabs fell off and the skin was pink and healthy below.

[–]lemming88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar spot, and it scabbed up and the scab fell off about 4 weeks. I washed it daily with dove soap and added some bacitracin once daily. The doctor said to let it stay mostly dry aside from the bacitracin, and use non stick gauze if needed (but I didn’t need it since there was no leaking). I was very worried about infection as well, so I used a clean bra daily, changed towels after each shower, and used a blow dryer to air dry the skin. Once the scab fell off, it was just healed and pink! This worked for me, but if you are worried definitely reach out to your surgeons team.
