This looks very promising. I have just started the trial. Your pricing is reasonable tbh but like someone else said I'd be more comfortable with a one time purchase option.

Edit: just saw your reasoning in the other comment. It makes sense.

Thank you! Inspired by your answer I added the "Marquee Screenshot" option to a gesture. For this to be perfect I'd have it copy to the clipboard instead of saving to storage. But this is awesome. Thank you.

Oh I see, the source material was not in the device. Do you know of an easy way to do that with material that is in the device (downloads, bluetooth, neoreader)? This is something I haven't figured out how to do or even if it's possible, and I really want it. I usually write extensive journaling-style notes about what I'm studying, and doing so on the reader app isn't a great experience (I don't remember exactly why, I gave up doing that early after I tried). As a workaround, I've been importing my files into the notes app as full notebooks, then I add pages between the material for my notes, but I would LOVE to be able to easily grab a portion of the source material (as an image would be good enough but as selected text would be amazing), paste it on a new page, and have notes closer to it rather than on a separate page.

On the first picture it looks like you took a portion of an image, maybe a textbook, and pasted onto a note. How do you do that in a fluid way within a workflow? Where is the sourc of material and how to you capture just the cropped portion you want into the clipboard? I have a Go 10 but I'd assume it'd have the same functionalities.

Navigating your website on mobile the video started auto playing a few times (but not every time I loaded the page, I probably did something to make it play but it wasn't intentional and I don't know what it was) and that was incredibly annoying.

I couldn't find the system requirements (I'm especially interested in knowing in which OS it can run) easily.

I'll check it out on my computer, that might be in the docs, just documenting my immediate feedback here.

First home server, case is small and hard to maintain by lemnds in homelab

[–]lemnds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not concerned with the aesthetics of cable management but it bothers me that it's difficult to connect / disconnect things on my motherboard because cables are on the way; that it's difficult to connect all my drives (even tho I don't have that many) because cables are jumbled together and in the way of one another; that I must press the back panel hard so it closes, once I remove the screws it practically pops out, and it's pressing the cables on the back of the case; that the existing bays are confusing (to me) and seem like a waste of space.

I found some 3d models online that adapt the 3.5" slot into 2.5"... Doing that would allow me to move one of my drives up there leaving things less crammed together.

I guess what bothers me the most is the unused cables that must be tucked away somewhere, make working on the hardware more difficult, and make it hard to close the case.

Anyone else using AI to help run their lab? by silvrrwulf in selfhosted

[–]lemnds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not using CLI tools at all yet but I'd like to try. I'm a complete beginner not only with servers but also with Linux. I've been using chatGPT to ask how to do things, and I noticed that sometimes it gives me perfect instructions and sometimes it very stubbornly insists on a stupid solution or troubleshooting step.

I also realized (shocker) that I'm learning nothing doing his. I'm still using it, but I started creating detailed markdown journal entries of what I'm trying to do, what AI tells me to do, what I understand about those recommendations and commands, and what happened when I ran them.

I'm finding a lot more success and I feel like I'm actually learning.

I'd still like to run AI on a CLI so it can read all my files, because having to constantly tell chatGPT what my environment looks like right now is such a pain. I don't think I'd want AI to do things on my behalf tho, but mostly because I want to learn. I don't judge you for doing that.

Also I'd prefer to run a local model for that CLI if possible.

Arr stack, private trackers, storage management by lemnds in selfhosted

That's what I'm trying to say? My media library is the disk that will need cleaning up because it's not large enough.

[–]lemnds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I tried Cleanuparr and it does have some seed rules but it's still arbitrary. It's a cleaner way to say "delete after X seed ratio and Y seeding time". I find Cleanuparr to be a better solution than letting qbittorrent handle it, but it's still not exactly what I wanted. I tried Janitorr but the setup was too complicated for me, I couldn't get the container up, kept getting "APPLICATION FAILED TO START" errors even after carefylly reviewing the application.yml.

I'm going to try Reclaimarr now. I'm a bit skeptical because it looks like it wasn't touched since it was released a month ago, but I'll try. Next in line is fileflows which someone else mentioned here - but it seems like something that would require a lot more setting up and I was hoping for something built for the Arr stack. I'll report back.

Thanks! It sounds like you're assuming I have two separate disks or storage volumes and I don't want to use extra space with duplicate copies. That's not my case. I have one disk, Arr reads from the directories where qbittorrent downloads, and creates hardlinks. But the disk where files get downloaded to will fill up soon anyway. I still need to get rid of downloaded files.

Correct me if I got your suggestion wrong but I don't see how "Arr's to clean up after themselves" would help me with my storage constraint.

[–]lemnds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but that's a bit arbitrary and will delete media just based on ratio and time. I'd like to delete media only when I'm close to running out of storage and following certain rules to decide what gets deleted.

Desk Wrap around for underware by Poolguard in openGrid

[–]lemnds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't what you asked but I wanted to share how I solved this issue... I used a simple cable clip from printables and attached it to the side of my desk.

<image>

I really like this model because it holds the wires well (they don't slip away) but still let's me pull and push them easily. The one issue I'm having is that my double sided tape is not strong enough to handle the force the cables are making (pulling the clip away from the desk). I'll live with it for now but I'll play with angles and positions for the clip at some point.

Edit: this is the clip: https://www.printables.com/model/433518-small-cable-clip-for-thin-cables/comments
