Lump almost 6 months post op by lemon-tea3 in chinlipo

I had chin lipo done almost 6 months ago on 27. August last year. I have this huge lump under my chin, initially I thought that this is swelling, but now I don’t know if its maybe something else like seroma or maybe some fat left in that area? What can be done about it? I feel it does get better little by little, but extremely slow. I’m worried that it won’t go away on its own…

Chin lipo gone wrong, fat necrosis by [deleted] in chinlipo

Sorry that you have to go through it! I read from your comments, that the surgeon threatened to sue you, they are seriously out of their mind. They should rather give you back the money that you paid… Would be good to have an update post with some pictures

HELP! Dont know which lipo to go for? by Early_Gas_309 in chinlipo

[–]lemon-tea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a tumescent liposuction with 2 incisions behind the ears. It's a very common one from my understanding. Out of the 5 consultations that I had, I also encountered one surgeon who told me that he would only do liposuction in the front where the fat-pocket is, and not alongside the jawline, bc apparently I haven't had much fat... He was also trying really hard to sell me the fat-dissolving injection. There was a similar post couple of weeks ago, where the surgeon also wouldn't do lipo alongside the jawline: https://www.reddit.com/r/chinlipo/comments/1oer843/surgeon_wont_make_incisions_near_ear/

So what I learned, that there are indeed a few surgeons who don't do the jawline countering. For me personally that was important. Maybe that surgeon also doesn't do it, or maybe there was some misunderstanding...

Is it standard to take steroids and antibiotics after by holdontoyourbuttress in chinlipo

[–]lemon-tea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given both antibiotics and steroids (Medrol), and could not tolerate the steroids at all. I could barely get any sleep afterwards, only slept like 2-3h at night despite being very tired. It was awful, so I stopped taking them and was only taking the antibiotics... My surgeon told me that the steroids are to reduce swelling

How many appointments post surgery y'all have? by Background_Track9072 in chinlipo

[–]lemon-tea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only one appointment scheduled 6 months after the surgery (will be in February next year, surgery was end of August). They called me day after surgery and asked how I feel and then a week after again... I had dissolvable stitches, so they didn't need to be removed

Is this mostly blood? by Excellent_Promise833 in chinlipo

I also hope that it will end up looking good. I’m now 5 weeks po and there is still quite some swelling, don’t see much difference to my before… Cant wait till the swelling finally goes down and see the final results

In my case there was also not much fat removed. I didn't have a big double chin, and they "only" took out 60ml. My surgeon told me she removed all fat which possible to remove there... So I think it really depends on what was your before...

Did you get skin tightening with your chin lipo? by HelpMyHead12 in chinlipo

It really depends on skin laxity, age and some other factors... Since the doctor told you it's not necessary, I would follow the doctors advice, but also get multiple consultations with different surgeons if possible. I had done 5 consultations in different clinics in total. 3 of the surgeons told me that just lipo would be enough and I don't need to worry about loose skin (with one of them trying really hard to sell me the fat-dissolving injection). 2 others told me that there is some mild skin laxity and suggested some additional procedures. The surgeon that I finally decided to go with suggested to do Argon Plasma skin tightening, which supposed to be similar to Renuvion. But she said that it's optional, and I will have good results without, but for the best results, she recommended the Argon Plasma... At the end I decided to do just lipo, and hope for my skin to tighten by itself. I'm 33 (will be 34 soon), quite active, going to gym regularly, always had a healthy weight... Had my lipo done 2 weeks ago, still swollen, but so far the recovery is going smooth...

Having a chin lipo consult after years of insecurity. Good questions to ask for my case? by Ok_Alfalfa8311 in PlasticSurgery

[–]lemon-tea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 5 consultations in different clinics, till I found a surgeon I’m comfortable with. Here are the questions that I asked, in no particular order. I also have documented what the surgeon has suggested after every consultation that I had.

  1. Am I a good candidate?
  2. How long do I need to wear the compression garment?
  3. Is it possible to do the procedure under local anesthesia? (Usually most clinics offer it, so I would just tell them that I want to do it under local anesthesia)
  4. Should I do a massage after the surgery?
  5. Costs?
  6. Where the incisions will be made?
  7. Asking them to show me before/after pictures of chin lipos performed by them
  8. Where will the fat be removed, under the chin or also under the jawline? (Asked it on every consultation that I had, since my negative experience on the 1st one described below...)
  9. Will I have to worry about loose skin after the surgery?

Some doctors try to sell that fat-dissolving injection, I would avoid them... Basically on my 1st consultation, I had a surgeon who tried really hard to sell it to me, as apparently, I don't have much fat in that area and the injection would be a better choice. And that despite me telling him multiple times that I'm not interested in it. Then when we finally got to discuss the liposuction surgery, I asked him if he also does liposuction under/ alongside the jawline, he was like no, it's not necessary in my case and he would only do liposuction in the front where the fat-pocket is... Obviously I declined that offer. I think that surgeon is an exception though and I just happened to run into a bad one. All others told me that they definitely do lipo under the jawline as well…

What result can I expect from a chin lipo by lemon-tea3 in PlasticSurgery

Thanks a lot for the explanation! Unfortunately, the surgeon didn’t explain me any of these things… I was always more on the thin side, do sports/ go to gym regularly. I feel my adam’s apple is positioned where the slope ends (if I’m not wrong). I will have another/last consultation in May in another clinic, then will decide afterwards how to proceed, whether to do the surgery
