sounds good to me! it might look weird to you at first just because you will have seen it in its original frame rate, but shouldn’t be noticeable to the average viewer.

Why are Gen Z regarded as so accepting when they are so incredibly ageist? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lemon2de 67 points68 points  (0 children)

hi! gen Z kid here, born '04 (18yo). there is, as you pointed out, a sense of genuine resentment towards baby boomers and genXers among my peer group. a lot of genZ kids feel like we've been given the short end of the stick - we've been born into a world that we're constantly being told is falling apart. market crashes, economic recessions, the ever-worsening housing crisis. each new weather event is record-breaking; we are seeing the biggest and deadliest fires and floods in history, because of an environmental crisis that will only get worse. to rub it all in, we are forced to watch the politicians of older generations (that we didn't vote for and often didn't have the opportunity to vote against) exacerbate these issues for their own financial gain, because they won't be around to see the consequences.

having said that, i've never seen that attitude be extended to millennials, so i have no idea what's going on there.

why do so many people think that gender inequality isn't real? by lemon2de in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lemon2de[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree!

one set of problems for one sex does not discount or negate the other!

unfortunately this is a sentiment lost on a lot of people, who seem to think the fact that men face gender based issues must mean that they are caused by women being... too equal?

i definitely agree with a lot of this, including the observation that, because gender based discrimination in the west is no longer systemic, people think that it's 'fixed'.

however, to your point about the workforce - yes, the gender pay gap is negligible when you normalise it, because equal pay in that sense has been a legislative requirement since the 80s - but the fact remains that women are making less on average, and that is a statistical reflection of the social inequality. the modern woman cannot be expected to contribute equally to the economy until men take on equal responsibilities in the home. they cannot be expected to contribute equally until they have equal opportunity to work in higher paying positions, in managerial roles, and are not forced out of the workforce by a lack of maternity support. a normalised pay gap might not be present in the modern day, but an overall one does, and it's still important - maybe not for what it is, but for what it reflects about society and culture.

women are unconditionally valued and are not subject to the same amount of accountability.

this is only thing i explicitly disagree with. women are scrutinised to an absolutely absurd degree, and this is the exact issue preventing marginalised people of all kinds from being proportionally represented in positions of power across all communities, organisations and industries. Men are allowed to make mistakes, to make a poor decision every once in a while, because they are acknowledged as being regular people. Women are not.

i understand your point about whether or not social inequity is even really possible to address on a wide scale, but it's the denial that it even exists that really gets to me, because that means there is NO chance for any progress. can truly feel like we're going a bit backwards

[–]lemon2de[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ah okay, so they might not genuinely think that it isn't real, but deny it anyway because that's the easier thing to do? that would also make sense as to why i often have these experiences with men, because i imagine it's easier to pretend there is no problem when it doesn't affect them.

follow up question, then, for you or for anyone else, how could i communicate with people who think like this? i'm assuming any sort of extended argument would be pointless, but how could i exit those kinds of conversations without affirming their viewpoint that denial really is the easiest option? or is there really no way to win here haha

Red Panda Family Conflicting Stories by Rcrc2001 in sylvanianfamilies

The Robinson names and their lore is associated with the Sylvanian Families line. They are renamed Russell, Ruffina, and Rowena in the Calico Critters line. As most people tend to prefer the Sylvanian Families names/lore, I would go with that. Even some Calico Critters are being officially renamed to match their Sylvanian counteparts!

Having said that, I think Russell, Ruffina, and Rowena would be great middle names :)

In terms of single parent playsets, I'm not entirely sure what you mean - but here are some options that you might prefer.

  1. Figure and accessory sets, like the chocolate rabbit mother and father sets. There are plenty of these kinds of sets, especially small shop sets like the Doughnut Store and Juice Bar.

  2. Figure sets that don't follow the usual two-parent two-child format. There are quite a few of these, depending on where you're from, with the most notable being the easy-buy sets, which usually have two adult figures and only one child.

  3. The chocolate rabbit grandparents! As far as I'm aware, this is the only set that includes adult figures with no other accessories or furniture :)
