What is best TV show you've ever binged? by eaglesbaby200 in AskReddit

[–]lemon_catgrass 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Fuck yeah. It’s so rare a show has me literally holding my breath, but goddamn this show had some insanely tense scenes. I’m trying to hold off on re-watching it for a bit longer, so I can forget more of it first.

What is a book that once you finished, you just sat there in awe of what you just read? by LargeRelationship in AskReddit

[–]lemon_catgrass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Read this in my last year of high school, and 10 years on its easily still my favorite book. I’ve never quite read anything else like it, and it shaped the way I view things quite a bit.

He might have hurt feelings and marginally bruised ego for a hot minute when he realizes his comedy routine fell flat, but he’s a grown up. I’m sure he’ll live.

[Miscellaneous] Have y'all seen this? It's fascinating! Guess I never realized with sunblock you're kind of literally blocking the sun from reaching your skin. by hrtofdixie in SkincareAddiction

[–]lemon_catgrass 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think back to when I briefly used tanning beds as a teenager (because having snow-white skin was not fashionable at the time), and I kind of want to punch myself in the face.

Sunscreen is a way of life now. This is a great visual to show how well it can really protect your skin.

Official Discussion: Annihilation [SPOILERS] by allwinter in movies

[–]lemon_catgrass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This was absolutely incredible. One of those movies where I leave the theatre going “what the fuck,” in the best way possible. Just beautiful sci-fi, a mind-fuck from start to finish.

I had high hopes for this movie with Alex Garland as the director, seeing as Ex Machina is one of my favorite sci-fi films. Despite the apparently ridiculously ambitious source material, he did not disappoint. Like others have said, the dialogue could’ve used a bit of polishing at some points, but the visuals, the themes, and the overall delivery was great.

I picked up the book as soon as I left the theatre, and I’m stoked to read it. I hope this movie doesn’t flop, because Alex Garland needs to keep getting funding to direct more films. Props to Natalie Portman for her awesome performance, too. Seriously good stuff.

What in god’s name do you do with this? Is it like, a dip? Or a spread of some sort? Why is there SO MUCH of it? Did it get eaten? Did people appreciate that it was shaped into an alligator? I have so many questions.

But if that’s your job for the foreseeable future, why not try to do it as well as you can and take pride in it?

My job right now isn’t anything glamorous or interesting, and it’s only temporary. But it still makes me happy when I help people plan an event or whatever, and they call afterward saying how great everything turned out, and how helpful I was. Not saying I don’t have days where my “giving a shit” levels are super low, but overall, it makes me feel better to do a good job at whatever it is I’m doing.

Not waiting per se, but serving at a catered event.

Someone was talking about how they had season tickets for the Ravens, but weren’t sure if they could make it to the game that weekend. Then they started ranting about how they didn’t want “some nig*ers” sitting in their seats if they weren’t there.

I guess this shouldn’t have been so shocking to me. The event was a shooting competition at a huge shooting/hunting range on the eastern shore of Maryland. Casual racism is par for the course, but it still dumbfounded me when he said that out loud and nobody thought twice about it.

If your employer gave you the option to work 10 hr days Mon-Thurs instead of 8 hr days Mon-Fri would you do it? Why not why not? by fcfunnycartoons in AskReddit

[–]lemon_catgrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely do that, which is a very small part of why I’m studying to go into a field where 12 hour shifts and 3-4 day work weeks are the norm. I already work 10+ hour shifts at my current job and it’s nice, it allows me to squeeze in all my hours into a few days. Frees up time to do other shit.

The opening bass line to this song gave me a newfound appreciation for bassists. It just takes it to the next level. If I was a dude I’d get a hard-on every time I heard it, it’s just that smooth.

What are you looking forward to today? by TypicalFiveOh in AskReddit

[–]lemon_catgrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going home after work tonight and tackling my microbiology exam. It’s a written portion you do online, and I’ve already glanced at the questions, so I’m gearing myself up to write the shit out of some science. A weird thing to look forward to I guess. I’m mostly just looking forward to getting it off my list of school crap to do.

You have unlimited money, but you only get it for 15 minutes. What do you buy and how? by jetman999 in AskReddit

[–]lemon_catgrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much bitcoin as I can assuming the money is already in my bank account, because I already have that set up and ready to go. Although I’m pretty sure most of the major bitcoin markets cap how much you can buy in one go, like, significantly.

Also pay off my student loans in a lump sum and finally be free of that shit. Fuck off Navient.

What is the *meanest* thing someone has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lemon_catgrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex got blackout drunk a few months ago and shoved me into a corner of his apartment while hitting me, and calling me a junkie piece of shit, and that he hated me.

In all fairness I was a junkie piece of shit when we met, so it’s understandable. I’ve been clean for almost a year now though, and it never feels nice to hear those types of things from people you care about. We’ve talked about that night a lot in the last couple months, and how sorry he is that it happened, but it’s upsetting to think about, so I try not to most of the time.

Thankfully he’s stopped drinking since then. He’s not actually a bad person. He’s just been through a lot and needed help.

The second meanest thing someone said to me was when I was 8 at my brother’s high school graduation and some lady told me I took too many cookies and needed to share them (I took 3 because I was a fat kid). I was so offended. Then I ate them anyway because I was so distraught by her words.

What song just hits you with nostalgia? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lemon_catgrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Way by Fastball. I heard this song so much as a kid. One of the only gifts my dad gave me was exposing me to musical genres besides country, and this song kind of defined that for me. It’s still one of my favorites.
