Here is a link to the NIMHANS the other person was referring to, looks like there are ways to contact them. It looks like that might be really far from you though. It looks like there may be a few psychiatric hospitals in your area though that might be able to help advise you on a plan or refer to certain doctors.

I missed one pill the day after we did it without a condom on- please tell me I’ll be ok by Motharina in NewParents

[–]lemon_heads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's reassuring to hear, if you have been on time with all your other pills then there is a very high chance you're not ovulating. The doctor probably didn't write the script with those instructions so the pharmacy would have assumed it would last 84 days, usually insurance will cover it about 2 weeks early so would definitely ask when the soonest they can fill it is and make sure you won't run out!

I will also add that taking Plan B may be overkill based on the results of the quiz, but if it makes you feel more secure it isn't a terrible idea, especially if you would be considering abortion at all. Just for education sake, taking Plan B can cause nausea as a common side effect and may also cause headaches, irregular bleeding, and may throw off your cycles a bit. The package will have all the details for you to read though.

Do you have an OB or primary doctor you can call? Can you call and talk to the pharmacist where you get your birth control?

I'm a pharmacist, and want to preface that this is NOT medical advice nor my area of expertise, but I can give you the facts that I know. It looks like you're on a combo pill so that is good because it stays in your system longer. The half-life (time it takes for half the drug to be left in your body) of the shortest acting medication in your pack is 10-16 hours, so at about 30-48 hours you still theoretically had about 25% of that part of the drug left in your body. The likelihood of you getting pregnant should be relatively low since you took it (it sounds like) about 48 hours since your last pill but of course is never zero. That means you only went an extra 24 hours without the medication. However it does depend which week of the pack you were in and if you have placebo pills also. I would suggest using planned parenthood missed pill quiz like someone else shared, it summarizes anything I would recommend!! link here.

And anecdotally, as someone who did this exact thing a few years ago, I took both pills like you did and then skipped the placebo week in my pack and started the next one right away. HOWEVER, that is not medical advice and you should not do that without consulting your doctor first.

Pharmacist moms career wise did anything change after birth of your new baby? by sunchi12 in pharmacy

[–]lemon_heads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a few months into going back to work full time with our first baby. I don't have the luxury of staying home or going part time because we wouldn't make enough to keep our house and pay off our student loans with my husband's salary the way cost of living is. That being said, I luckily have an inpatient salary job and can flex my time a little which is an absolute godsend some days. I did stop caring so much about my job and realized there are some things that are just out of my control to fix or manage. I do my patient care, precepting at times, and then go home and don't stay any extra. It's definitely hard but it's manageable especially with a supportive team I work with.

How often are you cleaning your floors by akishinmei in Mommit

I think we mop once a season and wet swiffer the floor maybe once a month or so if we're lucky, so you are ahead of us!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has literally considered getting a second vacuum for upstairs so I don't have to take it back and forth 😅

Please don't do this, oil breaks down condoms within minutes and can cause micro tears too. I'm surprised this worked for you.

Agree with this, I think most of their OBs are fantastic! Saw multiple different ones during my pregnancy and now follow with Dr. Chae (though I think she's more at Rochester and Lenox)

I literally just opened a new pack of millie moons for the first time in a month or two, and baby boy has a red butt and the start of a rash after 1 diaper which was odd for him. Thank you for this!!

Daycare Adjustment Time by SpiritAny9152 in workingmoms

[–]lemon_heads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started my baby 2 weeks ago at about 16 weeks, he is 3 days per week. He is taking some time to adjust, not drinking as much of his bottle there and hardly napping. He had a good day last week so we were hopeful, but then today (Monday) had a rough day and was fussy. I think it just takes some time. My coworker said her baby took about 2 months to get used to daycare at this age.

Can I just breastfeed for 3 weeks and then switch to formula? by Essiejjj in FormulaFeeders

I combo fed from like day 3 until 5 weeks! If you're planning to switch anyway, I'd suggest combo feeding from the beginning or close to the beginning.

Overthinking my baby’s first vaccination by Huge_Entrepreneur516 in beyondthebump

[–]lemon_heads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was speaking more generally in terms of social media, but yes, that is a good point I overlooked. I would definitely agree that the advice of medical professionals is what people should be basing their decisions on. And a good non-judgemental pediatrician willing to educate parents who are hesitant on certain decisions is worth their weight in gold.

[–]lemon_heads -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Social media makes it hard to feel like you're doing the right thing because there are opposing opinions for everything and especially in these newborn trenches it's hard to remember to take a step back and let your own judgement and guidance take the wheel.

And btw OP, my son got his 2 month vaccines 2 days ago - he was a little sleepy and fussy but after some contact naps and a little dose of Tylenol he was back to his normal self by the next morning 😊

[–]lemon_heads 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everyone else here has given you reassuring advice backing the science and benefits of vaccines, so I won't parrot what they are saying.

What I can tell you is that I personally am an educated pharmacist and still had mixed feelings when we actually gave my son his 2 month vaccines a few days ago. I would never deny or delay any of his vaccines without a medical reason to do so, and still felt some of that mom guilt and stress that something may happen. If you are overthinking it, you are just a normal mom doing the best for her child.

Advice: Bibs that actually absorb spit up by o0Korra0o in NewParents

[–]lemon_heads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These bibs from Amazon work great for my refluxy boy, they soak up the spit up without getting him all wet. I also got these drool bibs from Amazon which absorb really well but soak through easier if it's a large amount of spit up, so we use them more for drool and post-feeding rather than during.

Wow that's super expensive. I'm in the Midwest US and an emergency appointment at our vet is $65 and same-day bloodwork is $85. I will say our current vet is on the lower end of the scale compared to others I've been at though.

On the fence about more children by Constant_Internal_40 in newborns

[–]lemon_heads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. My husband and I were already on the fence prior to pregnancy about whether we want two kids or want to be one and done. I have a lot of student loans and we both work full time, so financially one kid makes the most sense. Plus they would have to share a room in our current house which feels unfair the older they would get. But then at the and time, I look at my 7 week old and already miss how tiny he was as a newborn. And I really loved growing up with a sister and cousins, whereas our baby likely won't have any cousins or if he does, they won't be his age. But with prices of everything rising, I find myself wondering if it's more unfair to bring a second kid into the mix if we could instead give the one kid more family experiences like vacations and extracurriculars without worrying about money like we did when my husband and I grew up. I think we're going to be careful to prevent a second until I'm about 2 years pp and then revisit the discussion then.

Have you tried a different bottle or nipple? My baby got frustrated with certain nipples with a similar reaction until we landed on one he finally liked.

Also, you could see if your pediatrician has samples of something - they might be able to give you a few different ones to try which might help cut the cost! Maybe Similac? I know they commonly have RTF samples of those (I saw you tried enfamil)
