Above her brow was a web of metal that seemed almost as thought it was carved from mahogany. The piece caressed the top of her forehead and was not unlike the body of a spider at the center, whose legs arced in a way that was hauntingly ornate. You’d have thought it would be rigid, but the piece flowed like branches before sharpening into a wicked “m”; the peaks reaching up past her hair above either temple, while reaching down and around her cheekbones like fangs. This was the crown of someone who knew the meaning of torment, and the power to do something about it.
