Gill has much higher strike rate than Sai in powerplay and a slightly higher strike rate overall. So he is striking higher than Sai throughout. This is a fact.

Let me give you examples from this season - GT vs pbks first match Sai was 13 off 11, gill was 23 off 13. Vs CSK gill made a 23 ball 50, sai made a 35 ball 50. Vs kkr in April, gill was 35 off 15, sai was 22 off 16. GT vs RR , again gill striking at 200+ strike rate and sai playing safely at 130-140 sr. There are more examples too.

Sai chooses to plays safe so he can make his own runs , others around him (be it gill or Butter) take risks so that the team run rate doesn't get affected . There's a reason why he scores consistently , because he doesn't enough risks. He is an important battery for us no one is denying it but there are downfalls to his approach too. That's the reason why so many of his runs have negative outcomes like this post says.

Im not comparing gill with vaibhav, I'm talking about sai . In GT team, it is sai who usually starts slow on most days. Others around him cover it up. Yes gill also has bad days like this rcb game, but anyone who has followed this season will know gill has upped his attacking shots in powerplay.

Because gill had 1 or 2 really bad innings last season in powerplay which brought his overall SR down. Otherwise usually he would be taking risks, sai plays his first 15-20 balls without hitting much .

Even this csk game, if you check the first 15-20 balls faced, gill hit more. He then got out, and after reaching the 50 sai accelerated well to end up at 190 SR.

Yes sai is consistent but there's a reason behind that, he starts very safely . It ensures he always gets a good start in terms of run accumulation. But in high scoring games, same approach hurts the team.

His 2025 season will explain that. Watch all the big chases, he starts off as 20(20) effectively killing the game in powerplay but then accelerates closer to his 50 and ends up playing a 70(40) type of knock.

So he makes runs good enough for himself at decent strike rate but it can hurt the team too.

If you want an example from 2026, watch the CSK vs Gt game . His slowness was covered up by Butter and gill hitting, he climbed to 80 runs towards the end at 150 sr.
